there seems to be a big push on at present to get speeding riders off the road . Just curious as myself and a mate are both "' OFF '" . I have never seen so many coppers on the road hunting , hiding round corners , in trees and bushes and overpasses . The fun is slowly been taken away . Is it speed (how fast) or demerits .

meh, pick your spots and youll be fine. dont gun it on long straights. have a good play through sections of lots of twisties and youre much less likely to find yourself in the presence of the local constabulary

Just two months and 22 days to go!
Irony is that the same friendly Constable that gave me my last ticket costing 35 points (ridding 1000cc on restricted, no speeding involved just "friendly safety" check) was also the same friendly constable who served me my suspension 5 months later and took away my now full licence i got two weeks after the original ticket... anyway i should be back on the road for rest of the summer i hope...
(previous loss of points were, year ago "no L plate" on learners, and riding 400cc on learners)...actualy none of my points that cost me licence were speeding, another irony considering how much i speed everywhere... :)

The "big push" is more about giving citizens the message that they will be compliant little lemmings, and the state will regulate, punish, and tax them as they see fit. Where is your anger?

I'm on clapped out factory Showa suspension at the moment but am contemplating an Ohlins rear and race tech emulators for the front to modernize it a bit.

I've lost my license 3 times (slow learner) when I was younger, and driving a car. Didn't bother me much, I knew the consequences for speeding etc.
In saying that it hasn't taught me to slow down, and losing my license didn't stop me from driving while disqualified. I'm probably a worse speeder now than I was, just choose my time and place more appropriately (every day on the way home from work hehe). Haven't had a ticket in 5+ years now.

I got pulled for excessive speed on the last long weekend when they had that 105kph speed thingy in effect..... i was clocked at 206kph in the wairarapa:eek: ... and i was slowing down at the time . I thought oh shit do i do a runner or stop!!! I stopped cos i didnt know the roads or escape routes well enough to do a runner.... Kinda glad I did stop too..... had a good yarn with the young cop (only 28-30 y/o) about my bike and how cool it sounded and then he told me all about his hotted V-Max and how cool that sounded ..... then he showed me the speed i was doing on his radar thingy in his car and told me to try n take it a bit easy as there was the 105kph thing in effect this weekend.... And then told me to feed it some while he listened while i took off:eek: . This cop is the best cop ever as my bike was not reg'ed either as i was in protest of the hike in acc fees .... I never got any ticket for speed or reg and had his permission to fang the shit outa my bike when i took off ...... Should be more cops like this ..... and as a result of his kindness I have limited my speeding to the back roads lol, but still not reg'ed the bike ..... fuck nick smith and his acc levies..... i can get 2 tickets a year for no reg and still come out better off...:bleh:

I've received a couple of letters informing me of my current score, and letting me know that points are running low. I get my live updates during my roadside "chats"

mate of mine had a crash and i think the hour in the rescue chopper and week in hospital and acc topping his income up for the 6 to 8 weeks he will be off work cost slightly more than the acc component in his rego

Just pop in to the local station and ask the desk to do a check for you, show your I.D - if they are not busy I am sure they will oblige.
