One of your's/Haydens CBR's has sold but what about the other? Be great to see someone of his talent/background mixing it up with you guys in the Super's, be the best Super's field we've seen in a long long time. It would almost be a wasted opportunity to see him on a 600.

I think we've already got the best Superbike field we've had for a long time, especially with Craig returning to the closet, Choppa on the Bee Emm and the addition of Mr Cole. Only thing that could make it better is if I was out there:gob:

Now that you mention it you're probably right mate, could be a ball tearer of a season. Weeeell, it will be if that Feilding fella catches any of those blokes in a dark alley, he always did fight like a girl.
As for you being out there, have I got a deal for you.........

So if Shannon Johnson is over here riding in the NZ Nats - its likely he would be getting paid to do so then?
So were Bugden and Gareth Jones on the payroll then for their nats campaigns?
Are any NZ riders being paid to run in the Nats?

I would assume robbie was paid, and stroud. There would probably be money for finishing strongly from sponsors or manufacturers. I know Honda is running a contingency for place getters on the blades.
However for the other 95% of the fields its pay your own way which isn't a biggee as this is what we love!

i do belive stroudy, shirrffs, gareth ect do get paid, but i would say they would keep the 'how much to themselfs'. They deffintly deserve it though, all the hard work and practice that goes into racing at that level gets over looked alot.

I would assume.....
Stroud
Bugden
Shirriffs
Fitzgerald
Jones (last year)
Pretty much the top 5 would have got something for there efforts, not sure about James but he would deserve it

Interesting. I am of two minds. Firstly - its great to see aussie guys coming over and if you have to pay them to do so, so be it. Secondly - it would be nice to see the funds being invested in NZ riders as opposed to funding an aussie. Its nothing personal, just would rather a kiwi getting the benefits.
At the end of the day its their $$ and who the fuck am I to comment anyway.
Am looking forward to following this years nats especially the super doopers.

If you look at any national series - BSB, AMA etc. You will always find riders who aren't from that country! Don't see why NZ shouldn't be any different.
TBH, having foreign riders will help raise the profile of the competition in the countries those riders come from which can only be a good thing for the sport.
I do agree though that the nats this year will be sweet and am also looking forward to it.

To imply that anyone other than Andrew Stroud makes any money out of racing motorcycles is ridiculous sure there is some contingency bonus for top three but do you think that covers the racing expenses?? I think not, the tyre bill alone to run a competitve superbike can be upto 20k. Stroudy deserves to make what ever he makes that dude has 1 very impressive cv and if Im ever lucky enough/good enough to beat him then maybe I will try and make some coin from it if im not to late.
As for the Ozzys coming over suzuki want somebody that can run at the front and there hasnt really been anybody in NZ thats put up there hand and looked like they can it would cost 100k to build and run a SBK in NZ so I guess they want some sort of assuarnce there money/bike will be at the front.
Just my 2cents:innocent:

Yea i agree, that why not many run supers, i didnt say you got paid enough to spend the off season wanking around europe in a bently. Anyway what you get payed is your bussiness.
First time we've seen "serious craig" on here for awhile...ehehe  personaly i think the "stroudy is old and tired, and il win the title" craig is more amsuing.

I can assure you Jones didn't get paid to come here the last season, he paid to get in the country whereas the year before he had to pay to ride.
He did get something for winning the championship but there's no guarantee on that sort of coin.

To true big boy. Gareth got the same "pay" as the rest of us - but he totally missed out because he dosn't drink cheap beer supplied by the boss. Also, Brian would love to have young NZ riders on his team but the top riders (and yourself) are usually contracted early in the piece, and as you say a team with a lot of dollars on the line needs to be up the front or that team will end up non-existent. I believe that with our size and economy the best that top level rider's (and yourself) could hope for is for it not to cost anything personally.

Dunno if you enjoyed it mate but I reckon your "lost years" on the Honda will have helped close the gap. Fun or not you will have learnt a bit.

Yep, not to mention they make the local blokes lift their game, which can't be all bad. You, Stroudy, James Smith and co have all had to find something extra to try and beat Robbie and Gareth, and that just filter's on down.
Storudy maybe tired and old but he made us all look sill y last season i think it is the best he has ridden for a while and I cant see any reason for him to slow down any time soon
He was definitely lookin' tired when he'd finished riding his pushbike back into Christchurch after the Lady Wigram event leading up to the Nat's last year. The look on his face was farkin' priceless when he was kickin' back after the prize giving and Karen told him to get on his bike, haha.
But that fitness showed on the track, the old bugger could literally run rings around most of the young 'uns, and fitness doesn't cost anything either.

Too many? Like 2?
Realistically it was Stroudy, Robbie and Craig....then daylight, even when he was on an underfunded underpowered bike. With a better bike and tyre package under him the blokes behind are gonna have their work cut out to get any closer and the blokes in front may just find someone else in the mix. Bring it on.
