So I currently own a Cbr 250r MC19 and would really like to own a MC22 but im not sure if its work selling my bike and buying an MC22...

Just spend a ridiculous amount of money on my CBR MC19 and all i need to is to get the tank repainted and a new Exhaust and she will be perfect (and i mean it).

Should i sell my MC19 and buy a MC22?

Is it worth the upgrade or should i just stick with my MC19 for the times being until i get my full licence and a 600?

depends on how much cash you got lying round, make sure you have enough to get the bike you want when you upgrade to your full. Then you can spend any excess on making that more awesome in future!

eidt: MC22 is pretty badass though

Keep the 19 till you get enough money and a 6F to buy a big bike. If your current bike is reliable then you might as well hold onto it.

My bike is great! super reliable, the only reason i wanted to sell it was to get a MC22. im worried im going to get even MORE bored.. figured an MC22 would keep me busy for a little longer

I'd stick with the MC19. I don't think the difference will be that big. You know the status of your current bike. You don't know about any problems on a new bike - and when I say new - they are all quite old now.

I'd wait till you were ready to make an even bigger jump out of the 250cc bracket.

Either get a 2 stroke or stick with the 19. A 2 stroke will be fun enough to keep when you get your full, 4 stroke 250s, well, they're all just too boring to ride.

Exactly what I was going to say, at least you know the history of your bike.

Honestly the difference will be sweet F.A compared to a bigger bike so just wait IMO

some people will not like hearing this, but frankly, going from an mc19 to an mc22 isnt an upgrade.
I justify that because they are so fucking similar. an upgrade would be a bike that is significantly better, in allreas, to the point that you notice improvements in EVERY aspect, EVERY time you ride it.
a cbr400 would be an upgrade.

Frankly, unless you are Rossi, or a near-equally talented rider, you simply would not ever notice a difference between the two in you day to day, or spirited riding.

Another view is that you have spent alot of time and money on this thing recently, Ive been watching your posts. why the fuck would you spend all that money, then sell the bike, only to buy a basically identical bike? thats just a waste of money. you have spent alot of time and effort on yourr current bike, so take the time to enjoy the effort you have put in, and get your moneys worth out of your modifications and stuff.

They have the same engine. I bet you don't even push the limits of the MC19s handling so why bother throwing money away on the 22.

I was once at Ruapuna with a guy who was on an MC22. He seemed to be of a similar weight to me, and I was on my MC19, yet he could not pull away from me, lap after lap the acceleration of both bikes seemed to be identical.

Very very true my friend and thanks for the input. The main reason for the upgrade (dare is say it) is bragging rights.. I love working on bikes as well hence all the work on my current one and I DO enjoy the finish product ;) i would love a CBR 400rr but im only on my learners (due for the restricted now) so i figured i would play it safe. maybe if a CBR 400 pops up ill grab it ;)

I'm with him. Everyone needs to have enjoyed a 2 stroke before they "progress" through the licences. Once you've obtained your full, chances are you'll never go back to small 2 stroke because physcologically its a "downgrade".

I see an RS250 in your future. Do it man.

He seemed like a pretty good rider, and we were evenly matched in the corners at Ruapuna as well, but that doesn't say much as cornering is more due to the rider than the bike. The thing I don't like about my MC19 is the fact that it bottoms out too easily on the track, I get my pegs scraping the ground at every corner. I'll see if I can get the back suspension adjusted a little bit.

people are talking about an RS 250. if you want to stay within your licence conditions, get a TZR 250, big upgrade, but also increased maintenance, and you can get them for half, or less than half, the cost of an RS. food for thought.

having said that, Ive seen al the threads you make on the time and effort you put into the bike, so Id say hang onto it for a bit, and make the most of the effort youve put in.

as for the cbr400, theres one on trademe, under the parts section, basically two complete bikes, need a little attention, but if you are into working on your bikes, its 2 bikes, a road and a track bike if you see it that way. . . go have a hunt and see if you can find it

Yeah, i saw that one, not too keen. been looking at a few 400's but that means i have to sell my bike first before i can even consider one of these ones.

YES! just got a Dyno done for my CBR MC19.

At 17,500RPM - 32.6hp at the rear wheel, 44hp at the crank. Top speed 242kph, smooth straight line to the top and running like a beaut!
