This has probably been a thrashed topic before, but can anybody point me in the direction of rules and requirements for bucket racing?
The road is getting a "wee bit" dangerous so I think it's time to take it to the track!!
Not saying that I'll stop road riding but I'd like a bit of the change and I'm definitley giving bucket racing a good think. I've seen a couple of races and it looks like bloody good fun

Do it mate
I have raced for four years mainly Post Classic road racing and a bit of Buckets, Getting my FZR/TF125 finished at the mo
Hardly road ride at all now, Ducati (that hasnt been riden in 9 month's) for sale shortly
You could race your Hyosung (if you got it back from being nicked) in 250 Pro Lite as another option
Get a entry in for TRRS, or if you dont come a camp at the track , Huge entrys for the Bucket GP

Cheers mate, I'll have a look now,
Hyo's long gone, got a hornet now, which is much more fun, although I do miss the hyo. Would my hornet still be eligible in anything??

Hornet is 4 cylinder?
Pacific club do a 250 4 cyl class, races with 150 Steet Stock, 250 Pro Lites. 3 classes in one race
PM Nigala for details and eligability. he runs the BRM/Pacific series and TRRS (Pacific club took over the running of it this year)

hmmmm, desicions,
keep the hornet AND get a bucket,
turn the hornet into a track bike
or ditch the hornet and get a different track bike.
Fark it'll be a sight my 6foot 2 frame on an FXR or similar

Get a bucket (not that I'm biased at all) cheap racing as in about $50 a month including gas, and lots of it. 11 meetings a year in Auckland alone. Real racing costs significantly more especially when you start taking travel into account.
If you are still undecided or haven't organised a bike by the 18th 19th December come to Mt Wellington for the non points round and introduce yourself, as long as you have the gear you are welcome to take mine out for a few laps to see if it's your cup of tea.

Yea I am leaning more towards keeping my hornet for the road and having a bucket as well.
And to be honest I dont consider myself an idiot rider and a few people here can verify that... I hope... haha but I am rather uncomfy riding someone elses pride and joy (Bike I'm talking about!!!!!!!)
I'll come and have a look though and introduce myself, I see that FXR's are quite popular, not too keen on a two stroke, maintinence etc

Pride and joy? :killingme
It's just a bucket and the rate that I fall off it I'm sure you won't destroy it, you will be far from the first to borrow a bike off us and the only one that has ever come back damaged was a road bike. Bring your leathers and have a go, you'll either figure out for zero dollars that you aren't interested or get hopelessly addicted.

It was the same with flying for me, had a trial flight, got told I'll love it or hate it, came back loving it!!!!!!
I'll definately see what I can do, dont have leather pants at the moment but that's on my xmas list, I'll definitley give it some thought cos I can borrow some zip together leather pants. Cheers for the offer!

CBR150's (or an upgraded CBR125) are better, if you can get your hands on one.
If you want to see something very cool. Try to make it to Taupo Road Racing Spectacular (27 & 28th December) to see a national field. Great Xmas get away.

Sheesh, some people treat motorcycling as if it were some kind of hobby:angry:

6'4" sturdy and fast! Are you using standard springs? What oil # in front?
Shorty_925
22nd November 2010, 11:39
Yep standard all around, havent even opened the forks to see what is inside them. Dont even know what shock is up to, just hit the start button and go! Maybe one day I'll get around to it...

yeah those forks look bottomed out in Shorty's pic (on most bikes last bit can't be used). Off the brakes at that point of the corner one would think so stiffer springs would be a useful improvement.

You forgot to add 4 ft wide when he's got his knees and elbows out, its like trying to pass a high speed B Train.

Maybe I should try and lean off the bike more and lead with my head, maybe able to get to 5ft wide! :nya:
I can load up the front enough to drift the back in on a couple of corners at Roys Hill and was doing it at Mt Wgtn at the pit corner going anitclockwise, its not faster just ALOT of fun, I need another motard again...
I have RG3 valving and Eibach springs in my YZ and that makes a big difference compared to stock springs and vavling, maybe I should get my a into g and get some springs for them forks.
I have had the forks lower than that, theres about another 2 or 3cm to go, havent had the number board hitting the mudguard yet.

haha well height doesn't seem to be an issue, managed to get the missuses approval
"So long as it's safe" she says haha, anythings safer than the average intersection in Auckland.
Definately going to come and have a look as soon as I can!

18th and 19th December, bring your riding gear and look me up.
If you are planning to turn up let me know which day in the week before in case we decide only to do one day.

We have a neat little CBR 125 all set for racing. It's done one season and is very competitive in the right hands. Let me know if you want to see some pics and we'll load it onto Trademe again.

Very tempting! I have to get some funds in order for a bike first so it may not be until early next year, but if you could flick some pics to my my email address or in the thread I'll definitley keep it in mind!
And just in your own interest maybe you should put it on the online trading section of the forum? Might generate a bit more interest!
