I have just killed my zxr 250a's engine and need a replacement. Does a later model 250 c engine fit straight in or are they different. Does a zxr 400 engine use same mounts and does anyone know where to find a good engine? :niceone:

I dont know about the A but I'd imagine a 400 would slot in, you will need to rejet and get a new cdi, and maybe other (minor) things

I was hoping to fit a 250c engine but I need to know if there are any differences
between them.

Oh yea nah that will fit fine (IIRC), just some electrical differences between the two, not sure what exactly - think it was charging system?...

anyone with more insight?..

is it really possible? Damn, I should have kept mine. Do you happen to know anyone who has actually acheived fourhundredness? how minor do you think 'minor' is?

Minor as in shifting a few engine mounts a few mm, and installing a new CDI.
Thats pretty much it, oh and a new tacho if you want to.

I will be doing it if I dont get more than 4.5k for my bike when I sell on, which will not happen, so I guess I will just make it a 4hundy.

Westy, I have a feeling some bike shops in Wellywood stock zxr engines (try TSS in Lower Hutt first). This was certainly the case when I bought mine last year so worth a shot before you 4hundyfi your machine :niceone:

There is a manual for the c model in the 250 club forum. Not sure what address and telephone you are after though :niceone:

ummmmm having owned both 250 and 400 zxr's i am wondering if they would fit. Cause the 400 had a much bigger frame (width wise) than the 250 so she might not fit.

what model? the h1 (??) that motor is nearly identical to the zxr2(c) just abit fatter :P the mounts would need abit of work, I was looking at a ZXR2(a) side by side with my ZXR2(c) and the ZXR2(a) had a much larger (well seemed?..) frame, I had one 400cc motor sized up at one point (I'm sure it was the H1 400cc) and it would JUST (re: tight tight) fit into the zxr c, was going to be fun mounting the bigger radiator and oil cooler though

But who knows, wont know until I try it ...

Hi, I think that you will find that a 250 "a" and a 250 "c" motor aren't just a bolt in swap, If I recall correctly the "a" motor has a different mounting on the head?
Just my 2c worth.
