IMO, the 600 4cyl reduced to a triple is the best bang for your buck & has the all round abilty to win with a solid rider.
Hybrides like my own, the Tiggy, Singles in alloy chassis etc - whilst competitve are higher in maintenance and can be fickle wee beasts at times!
Old school 4 Hundies 4cyl units can still cut the mustard but require a fair bit of development & TLC to be in the thick of it.

Agreed re the 600 reduced to an "OZZY 450" mate. Chassis alone is a HUGE advantage, although the lack of Tourque from a 450 V a SV 650 is a wee problem, but as you say, with a good rider on it, they will preform, just like Sketchy did on Chris's Bike

If Only I had some money left to campaign my own one I have here and built to go

It is bloody hard looking at a race bike in your shed everyday that is all good to go, but cannot ride it as there is no money left to ride it

Thats a bloody old theory Shaun , years ago i used to race the MVX 250 and half way through the race i used to turn it into 160cc twin.

Damm straight , but i will add the level of mechanical ability of the owner / rider is a crutial point for a hybrid type bike modded to hell especially if the thing needs to be worked on alot, mechanics like me cost alot lol . The stock proddy type bikes are a bit cheaper , and simpler too cause they are a proven platform.

Throws a million errors. Much fiddling of the computer is needed ...... or you use 5 injectors like I have. 4 in the fuel rail, 4 in the loom, but only 3 are common to both.

A 600 - 1 lung cost me $4k to get to the starting grid. That was all painted up and stickered and included purchasing the bike. Cheap way to get a modern chassis on the grid.

Not on mine, throws one error but life goes on with the FI light flashing on the dash constantly.

No mate. I have shut down my little buisness, I am selling all work shop equipment

Electric bike hoist etc, and getting a full time job doing some thing I can focus on, and going home at the end of each day to my girls a happy man, rather than a stressed unit chasing money

The mods only take time, NOT money. And it was Ozzy that had the rules written for this machine, by building one, and having it approved

re: the injector fault, don't you just measure the resistance through the injector, then go and find the appropriate resistor at your local dick smith/jaycar? Thats generally all you need to do for the other inputs/outputs on a bike.

Injector is a coil so a resistor would probably not work. You would need an inductor of some description which would be difficult to work out. Not worth the hassle.

Wrong buddythe sv 650 bike came into f3 around 2002 so when did the 450 rule come out?

On the Honda the fault code light came on and nothing more happened - I think it may have cranked but there was deffiantly no go. So I spoke to an auto sparky who said the best way to replicate an injector coil was to use a second hand injector in the wiring loom - so I did. Has't missed a beat in well over 12 months - hasn't shown signs of overheating either which was my main concern (I store it in a snaplock bag - no melted plastic yet..)

the sv 650 bike came into f3 around 2002 so when did the 450 rule come out?

I thought the 450cc Multi rule was originally there to allow overbored 400's. Ozzy just found a more creative way to stay within the 450cc restriction.

l remember it was in 2003 their was at lease 3 Kawasaki's with 450 kits in them then! i wanted to do it with a 600 cut down cause the motor that way was built to take the power but do it more like the ducati mono engine with a rocka arm in it. because leaving the piston in it you lose at lease 4hp in drag. but leaving it in is just a simple crude way around it! but my heath packed up at that was that. that was 7-8 years ago! only seen the other done no more than 3 years ago
