I love the look of the Triumph Scrambler, but know nothing about it except that the husband says they look like shit...... :shit:
Does anyone here have one or have ridden one? Curious to know what they are like to ride - they look so cool, I was wondering what they are like to ride.

I want one!

I rode one on loan from the shop when the speedy was being serviced. It was just another bike, easy to ride, no stunning power. Since then I have read some raves about it and have wondered what I missed. Must ride one again.

Guilty as charged. They do nothing really well ,not overly fast, motor is super reliable, steering is responsive but they get loose when pushed without suspension work. They put a smile on yer dial everytime you ride one, what more does a bike need to do. They are better than the spec sheet might suggest.

I'm not clever enough to make the link. Google , advrider. scroll down to beasts & find the Scrambler thread started by our own Danger Dave, make sure you have plenty of time

Tri-boy has one and done fair few ks on his. Apart from Italian chrome rim symdrome (rusted rims) he's had a good run. Replacement rims came from Taiwan iirc, far better quality by all accounts.

I can't stand the exhaust! But performance wise they go ok, especially if you change a few things on them. The Thruxton is better!

Yeah I must be a motorbike slut - I was drooling over a Ducati Monster a few months back - so many bikes and so little money!

It is scrambler style - up high.

Arrow make a nice pipe (in the Triumph catalogue) and sounds nice (local dealer has a demo one with the arrow pipe) Thunderbike in Nelson make a beaut high pipe that will raise the dead :woohoo:

I like the high pipe - I'd like to see a Thruxton with twin high pipes (one each side) in the old Norton style. Cool. Well maybe not for the legs!

You where heading in the right direction... think a little monster would be far more fun than a scrambler!!

They're not everyones taste, but neither is Chuck Taylor sneakers, or RayBan sunglasses.
All three will go down in the history books as uber cool though.
The mufflers are well guarded to prevent heat burns, but the header pipes can melt trousars if you put your leg extremely forward for balance on gravel. (the fine line is learnt very quickly)
Budget in aftermarket shocks, and some fork work with emulators/intimidators and springs if you wish to pass a few sprotbike riders mid corner (on knobbly tyres).
They're more fun than jumping beans, and everyone secretly wants one. Nuff said.:sunny:

Thank you Dave. The exhaust does not cause heat issues in general riding. Guys have wrecked their pants on the headers when riding in rough territory that requires more body english than normal.

Be prepared for endless earache from old farts reminiscing about their biking days, even more scary the nana's remembering their courting days. It works on joe public like BMW's new Mini or Chryslers PT , some get it, some don't.

I think I must be a secret wanna be triumph rider - I find myself droolling over the green speed triple as well........ Now that is an entirely different bike - you need to ride one, but if you do be prepared to buy, I miss it

Does that make me an old fart?

I get it all the time when filling up at the servo, old guys squinting their eyes to see what it is. Once they realise it's a Trumpy, it's a mile a minute with stories of old. Always happy to have a short chat with them.
