Aren't they the transponder type that are horrendously expensive to replace?

Well if you get from a dealer it would be a good few hundred for sure, otherwise it's an ebay or wreckers job. The alternative would be to bypass the HISS. Neither of which i have the time or money for, hence the price.

How long have you owned it?

FYI to potential buyers - new HISS transponder / keys are NOT cheap from the honda dealership, and it's almost impossible to find them second hand.

its not hard to get around, get a usa loom + cdi off ebay will cost about $200-250nzd landed, take the barrel to a locksmith they can cut a key for about $25, then if you want it looking legit buy a honda blank key to get cut cost about $85

I can't get through to any Honda dealers right now as it's holiday. Do you happen to know how much they are roughly?

Thanks mate didn't know USA models come without HISS. It's a bit of a nuisance system really since nothing but grounding your bike to something solid will deter thieves!

Did you lose the keys or did you find the bike?

racefactory

I'm riding out to the spot where I think the keys are now- only it's 300km away. If i find em the price will go up to $6700.

Need a vehicle for work and have already bought something else so this will be up for sale regardless of if I find them or not.

that's a good option but fitting the loom will take me a few full days of work I'm sure. Wouldn't the whole bike have to come apart to do that?

I can't remember if you need to change the whole loom or just the ECU?.
The key i had cut and recoded for my old Cb900 was $30,pretty cheap.

The Last price i saw for a complete new ECU and keys from Honda was $1300 odd...

It pays to keep ya spare key safe and secure..

Didn't I say missing keys? Stop dreaming mate, I've lost the keys to it.

Working on a new set. Few options but all rather expensive.

If anyone's interested they'll give me a text on the number provided. No keyboard warriors thanks.

$1300??? We traded a bike the other day which had lost the keys. Try doubling that and you'll be close. Luckily the owner eventually found his keys!!!!

last set of lost 'h.i.s.s' keys cost us circa $2800 to get sorted.

Just got it sorted for 450 bucks.

Chap in Poland who you send your ECU to and he programs new keys to it.

Hi guys, still got this CBR lying around... Haven't got around to putting it on trademe yet.

Is anyone interested for 5700 as a cheap project or track day hack? I can't honestly just can't be arsed getting the ECU and key work done.

Previous owner (mechanic) can easily confirm the running condition of the bike etc etc.

This is the guy that does the work. He'll accept 275 USD for it.

Alternatively if you could buy a race ecu which makes sense if you are going down that route.

Or get an American ECU without the HISS system.

Any other suggestions on ways to get around this are much appreciated :)

What's the numberplate and VIN number of the bike? (Please message me on here) I'm potentially keen if it's not stolen.

Update: I am now keen for a part trade for a cheap 90's/late 80's 400 or 250cc motorcycle such as the vfr400 zxr400 cbr400 cbr250's and zxr250's. 2 strokes are also welcome. ANY CONDITION considered.

Would you consider a trade for a 2011 Hyosung GT250R (Black) - Has had front fork Oil done, under 1000kms. Was stolen from me and then recovered 3 days later with guy riding around on it. Can vouch for good condition, small amount of scratching on R/H side of fuel tank, thats all.

email me (simon-overtheedge@hotmail.com)

Got a CBR400rr that was to be a track bike sitting here in the garage. Hasn't been ridden for about 1.5years but motor starts and runs ok.
