Hey guys, recently my zxr250a engine shat itself. Picked up a replacement for dirt cheap, with damaged ignition side (munched rotor cover, rotor, and waterpump cover) intending on swapping the good parts from my current engine. Well, im an apprentice car mechanic, not a bike mechanic, and this is the first bike related work that ive done (other than a straight engine swap on my rg150, what a shit unreliable engine!)

My question is, how do you remove the rotor? Ive removed the cover, and the front crankshaft bolt, but cannot get the rotor to budge, on either of the engines.

is there a trick to it, or something i'm missing?

thanks in advance!!

I assume you mean the rotor.

You will need some sort of flywheel puller.

Yea, thats the one :innocent:, im learning :D

cheers for the quick reply, I had thought that was probably the case im off to work to see what we have in the way of a small puller. Would be good to have the bike running for a ride to whangamata this weekend

thanks mate

Went to work, tried all the various external pullers we had, they all slipped on the rotor. Took the burrs off the buggered rotor with an angle grinder and got the munched coil off, can now see an internaly threaded puller is needed.

Called up a bike mechanic mate of mine, he said call into the shop tomorrow and they'l swap them for me for free.

Sweet
