I've got some replacement pole bits in the garage somewhere, otherwise you can borrow the plug spanner for the van again.

Our bloody tent poles got broken in the wind of Taupo! :(
Lucky we're bucket racers which means that we have an endless supply of duct tape!

Other half has asked if I will pop up for the Tokoroa weekend with him.
What I need to know is:
How much is entry etc? Can we camp at the track? Are there actual toilets anywhere?
Anything else you can tell of interest that might seal the deal?
Dutchee
25th March 2011, 16:16
Okay, absolutely no idea about amenities, but all the tracks I've been to so far have had toilets. No idea where the heck this Toke track even is, but hopefully we'll find it this time (and that's what the stupid slapper GPS is for, I failed miserably at navigation so got fired - yeehah).
Now, as to sealing the deal for you coming up. You can watch and wonder how anyone could possibly be as slow as me, see some close racing at different stages of the racing, watch people fall off, and possibly even participate in the skate challenge at night. Oh, I've bought port, so port on the corner's on. You can even take my bike out at some stage for a wobble (Will does have first dibs on riding my bike whenever I'm not, but I'm sure we can sort something out, if you haven't tried and aren't totally anti).
There is a proper campground somewhere nearby, but after staying there about 6 years ago, it's not one I'd recommend - they do a B&B as well as the campground, sorry, I ain't going there for the breakfast ewwww
Now, are you coming? We need more Wellingtonians (can't believe I'm saying that). We also definitely need more than 2 HB riders (that's even scarier) or it'll end up being an away Auckland round (so long as most of who have said are coming, actually turn up this time - slackers).

Actual toilets ARE at the track, camping is allowed at the track, entry should be $75 but its only $40. Let me know if you need to know anything else.

Can we please also ensure that nylon is on ALL contact points, that means if your footpegs fold up exposing steel mounts they need to be taken care of. Please be good so we can return again and again. cheers

Hey it was raining last time, some of us aren't allowed out when its raining.
So, living in Auckland, that means you're only allowed out 5 days a year? That sux (as does the rain).
Hels, gutted you guys aren't coming up, but understandable.
We should also ensure we have fire extinguishers (just in case we manage to leave dorkland rain behind) - following NSR's comment about nylon on the bikes. We definitely want to be able to go back.

any chance of a link to google maps with the track location? I understand its near the airport? sure it can't be too hard to find once there, have tried finding out but even the kartsport waikato site doesn't have location address or anything.

Look, she hasn't been, just cause you're B-grade Tim hahahe
Results say she competed in round 1 (which was all in due to the pathetic turn-out) and then went back to B-grade for Toke - where she did an awesome job, whereas the one other female "racing" down there could not be stuffed being a mobile chicane and would rather have watched the racing and the toy planes/helicopters (as running off the track due to total inattention was a given).
So far I've got 2 DNS's from two and by the time the competition is over, I reckon I'll have 5, but have enjoyed watching the racing and fantastic atmosphere.

This has probably been posted somewhere but do we have a solid date for the October round at Kaitoke?
I have
19 20 November Auckland
5 December Roys Hill
in my head but can't find anything for round 3.
If not already confirmed 22/23 or 29/30 look to be ideal from my point of view so as not to clash with AK and HB points rounds or the GP in Melbourne.
Feel free to ridicule me if it's been posted somewhere.

Okey tokey, the weekend before the GP - guess it's going to be a busy month.
Anyone want a bike taken down from Auckland? I still refuse to sit in the middle seat for that long, but we can probably take a bike (hell, I dunno, it's months away, and may have a pick-up/drop-off thingy happening).
Will be leaving sometime way early Friday morning and coming home Sunday night (leaving the track around 2, even if racing isn't finished - but at least we'll have daylight savings then or soonish, and won't have to race along to avoid driving desert road in the dark).

Yep shame about the clash but having spent years running trail rides we ended up just picking dates, there is almost no way to avoid clashing with something.
