View Full Version : Anyone know if Cycletreads do price matching?

As per the subject, do 'Treads do price matching on tyres?

Need some new hoops for the '14 - and there's an over 10% difference in pricing.

As far as I can see, there's nothing on their website to that effect.

TIA,
Mully

You're kidding right?

I don't know anyone who can match Cycletreads pricing.

They often sell for less than my buy price!

They often sell for less than my buy price!I saved almost $100 by ringing around the dealers to get the best price. Cycletreads were far from cheapest.

Hmm - maybe on loss leaders, but not on Pilot Power 2CTs.

Over 10% more expensive than another company's quoted price. Going off their website. I might call them tomorrow and check.

TSS Red Baron in Lower Hutt consistantly smash Cycle Treads on tyre prices. Give Andrew in the spares dept a call tomorrow on 04 569 3989 and check it out. Couriers charges aren't that expensive either.

Dury Performance shits all over cycletreads price for tyres:yes:, Plus I orded a chain from them, was quoted a price on the phone, but when I went to pick it up, the price had blown out buy +$70 WTF? (their excuse was they could only get one which had extra links, but they did not call me though), stuff cycle treads from now on.

Don't forget that George from Moto-MD now has a mobile tyre fitting service. He'll also match any price...

Feel free mate. Doubt it'll make em any cheaper than they already are though.

I have compared online prices and found TSS prices to be at the low end. However for me of much greater value is the fitting service. You make a time leave the bike and go for a donut and coffee just down the road, have a look in the sports goods store across the road and wander back to pick up the bike. All done in the time it takes to fit the tyre.

That's another drawcard alright. $45 to fit a tyre on the bike is the cheapest I've heard of for some time.

What do you reckon a set of hoops would cost to courier? Ever done it?

DPC Charged me $24 to fit a tyre I supplied .. after I told them $19 was too cheap...

I like Cycletreads. They're good guys who stock loads and give you the opportunity to browse before buying.

I'd rather pay more (not too much more) to support them rather than eBay it.

They don't offer their website discounts unless you ask and they HAVE price matched for me on more than one occasion.

I reckon you should put some pures on it.....I just happen to have a couple....

Pretty sure 'treads will match whatever others are doing tho, like the Kat sez their selling prices are often less than standard wholesale...

Yeah, and I've seen those.

But everyone tells me they aren't the right profile for th 14 - well, they are, but they get Nom-ed by commuting.

Yeh, If ya commute regularly you should use some road 2ct's or angels or summat. Way better option that will still provide more than enough grip for a good paced fang now and then....

As would the PP2CTs.

Yes. The XB12 could destroy a PP in very short order, mostly 'cause of the engine braking. The PR2s would last twice as long, bit squirmier braking but the same compound on the sides.

I miss the engine braking.

Will not deal with Cycletreads ever again after the last experience there. They tried to over charge for fitting 3 tyres when there were only 2 fitted. They also snapped the valves and refused to acknowledge they had done this (they are known for this as regular practice) and would not replace them to the original valves as they did not stock them (Triumph parts) and would not pay for the damage.

They might have cheap tyres but so do other places and others are often cheaper by quite a bit. Their customer service sucks big time.

Really?

I fit and balance tyres (that I supply) for free.

I have just recently brought a couple of PP2cts off Cycletreads at $580 for a pair. Rear one was 190/55 so it's the larger one. Fitted while i waited and bit of a discount when i rode in. Been buying off them for some years and had no problems at all with discount or service.
I always shop around a bit first but seem to end up there in the finish.

Yeah mate, but I bet you're not selling a pair of Michelin Pilot Sports 180/55 and 120/70 for $385 now, are you? How about Pirelli Diablos at $399 or Diablo Rossos @ $449?

Hmmmm..........

Considering those prices are below my buy price then no, I'm not.

That is the reason I have always fitted and balanced for free - as a means to try to compete with shops with far greater buying power.

DPC fitted and balanced a tire I supplied for $24 (ride in, not a loose wheel). This included disposing of the old tire. This was after i told them $19 was too cheap.

I'm sure treads were about the same last time I was there too - within a couple of bucks.

+1 for DPC I recently rang around for tyre prices for Pilot Road 2's for my SV650S and they were the cheapest and the service was some of the best I've had, from the free coffee from the cafe across the road to the $10 off for travelling from the other side of Auckland.

I will definitely be going back there.

Strange, 'treads and DPC are usually the sharpest around. Sure the cheap place wasn’t pricing a Pilot Power? I'm sure 'treads will match.

...on that, what about Power’s instead? They’re $100 cheaper a set, the same profile, and mostly the same rubber.

At the risk of turning this into a DPC love fest … they're pretty friggin awesome. Give Mike a call, he'll sort you out if 'treads can't do anything for ya.
