What a boreing piece of crap that was. Nothing but a procession. After last weeks super exciting Daytona 200 (except for the huge tire delay) and AMA superbike races, this GP was a complete dissappointment.

No, not Moto2, MotoGP is what I just watched.
What I saw was only 3 or 4 lead changes in the 1st half of the race then gaps developed which lead to the last 10 laps procession. Don't get me wrong, the riders and bikes are excellent. But there was next to no diceing, no 3, 4, 5, or more bikes wide anywhere, no backing in to speak of, didn't see any darkies, stoppies, smokies or wheelies either. Nothing like the 500 days. Hopefully the season will get better or we/I may have to wait until the 1000cc bikes show up next year for some bar to bar action.
Just my opinion.

Nah bro I think your still talking about Moto2.

Seriously,They are Grand Prix bikes tuned to within an inch of there lives to the current rules, if the bikes are doing any of the things you've described then they're not competitive.

I was expecting a Honda whitewash and the fact that Lorenzo did as well as he did gives you hope for the rest of the season. But early days yet.

Agreed.
IMO the electronics is what has made it less exciting. But if the rules reduced the amount of electronic aids and everyone WAS doing the things I described, the action would be much more lively.
Hopefully Lorenzo will heep the Hondas honest otherwise it could turn into a yawnfest.

I think the various lil races within the race were great, and some of the passes were great to watch. Sure the modern electronics have made the bikes less exciting, but some of the racing will be epic this year. We'll have a few that'll shake up the aliens along the way. Simoncelli will end up in a punch up with someone too.

As a fan I agree wholeheartedly, but it's what the factories want (read as Honda)and lap-dog Dorna just follow on.But that's another thread.

Dissapointing to hear Bridgestone have signed another 3 year contract as sole supplier.

It's the tyres. When he was at the front of the pack it was cos Michelin were making special tyres just for him. Even in Moto2 he always used the softer of the 2 choices when everyone else was picking the harder. Now, the Bridgestones have got him fucked.

Not from what I've read. When the whole talk was that the Ducati's electronics were so good that Stoner could simply whack the throttle open mid corner and let the electronics do the rest, Hayden put that theory to bed when talking about the data overlay's with Stoners side of the garage. :crybaby: That was mean! Yeah sure did, I had a shit of a year. Then changed and broke myself instead, that one backfired! Stoner jumped on that bike, with no MGP wins under his belt, and disappeared 2007 - noone got close. At that point he was the development rider, right up to now. 2nd year on the bike, he had a good start to the year and then fell to bits after Laguna (Inc some of Rossi's shittier moves - and I agree he is a shocker for them). 2009 he had such a shocker an illness that supposedly had been with him for years got the better of him and he took time off - came back very strong though. 2010 and he was lucky to keep it upright until the second half of the season where he was either winning, or nowhere. And apparently over that period the bike was getting harder and harder to ride, and he just couldn't work it out. Where else in the world was there winning going on on that ZX-6R? I should have gone there!

By the way...if you like stats...remember this. Stoner has won more races head to head with Rossi, in the time they've both been on factory bikes.

Yeah, a couple more wins over the same period. How about wins over Lorenzo though? Equal over the same period since Lorenzo started in MGP, Lorenzo well higher if you give him a grace year to get used to big bikes and broken ankles.

Rossi has threatened to leave Yamaha if they don't make the bike faster. He threatened to leave Yamaha if they didn't half way through a season change to Bridgestone (unheard of). He threatened Yamaha if they signed Lorenzo he'd leave.

Didn't Yamaha let Luca Cadalora change to Michelin from long-time partner Dunlop mid-year in 93? He wasn't even a rider worth holding on to - Yamaha are good at keeping their riders happy (unless your Max Biaggi, lost cause).

He's got a sore shoulder. Even though he's had an operation to fix it, and yet he was winning races last year on it when it was supposedly still fucked.

And you reckon Stoner is a moaner?

No wonder you rode a Kawasaki. You love the colour green!

Yeah, Rossi is very good at sneaking in a winge - he can be terribly bitchy. Lorenzo and Pedrosa though, you don't hear too much untoward complaining from them - guys who are in a similar situation.

I do love green, it looks good on me

If you wanna learn to really ride or wanna teach your kids to ride with great bike control!

Do it on the dirt!!

You wanna be a good road racer, go round and round in circles on dirt or sand first.

That, or get good at Trials.

Now aint that the truth. Off-road makes OK riders, good riders and good riders, brilliant riders.

With Trials being the University and CC and MX the Academy.

And there's three other guys with the same HRC 'advantage'...but no...Stoners bike will be better than the others!

Yip, best bikes end up with best rider - such is life. That rule pretty much applies to any of the factory entered machines - none of them are mugs at spotting talent.

If Stoner never had his moments of "the wobbly lower lip" - i could throw a bit more support his way. All the top guys have their own issues that the media love to portray, VR suffers from wry smugness, Pedrosa with his stone-faced approach, Lorenzo - exudes cocky confidence.

If any of those traits rub someone up the wrong way - then you tend to support the 'other guy" - whomever that may be.

Or it could be that your just plain weird like my wife & simply like the colour of the bike whizzing around, & she's like Jay, Green is good :-). (not much to watch in gp that colour though aye P !)

Good to get the first one out of the way Bill, was pleased to see the Honda wasn't quite as fast as predicted. Horhay should out muscle Tracy at Jerez, well, hopefully anyway !
Rossi to improve by the next two and at the front by the 4th ? lol.

Hahaha, I was winding the Stoner knockers up with the bike bit. Think it'll take a while before HRC takes sides.

As far as the racers personality goes...I really don't care what they're like as people. I simply admire the skill they have...hence my favoritism with Stoner. I mean hell...Mick Doohan was as boring as bat shit, but he was the man!

At Jerez yes...and other tracks. Lorenzo is too good/fast to let Stoner have it all his own way. And when Jerry and Rossi get thet Ducati sorted, I'm sure he'll join in.

Great race to a mostly predictable result... I mean, did anybody think Stoner wouldn't win, Dovi 'back a bit' and Pedobear in the top three. Thought we might have seen a little more of Spies, but a top effort none the less.

First time watching it on the wall in HD, awesome

Watched it last night ,

Now reading between the lines and from the scuttlebutt Ive heard due to my work,

The Honda is the end of last seasons one with the gearbox and same suspension the vfour with something different as far as stroke or crank layout

The Bridgestones , need to get heat in them from the get go with stoner and Honda being able to do that ( you have to feel sorrry for Elias , but then he should have Known this )

You have to feel for pedrosa , he rode his heart out and looked gutted at the end.

Now the interesting thing to watch is Rossi on the the Ducati .. Will they junk the Carbon fibre frame , in order to build the flex needed to work with the Bridgestones ??

Also I know its not bikes but the other one to watch I think is the Virgin F1 team , apparently all ( a lot ) done with Computer simulation ,,,Art to part ... ( which is what I do , so for me I hope they do well)

Meanwhile at the other end of the field, Karel Abraham is happy to have finished in the points

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/22032011/23/abraham-finishes-debut-motogp-race-points.html

That's 13th out of 13! What we used to call "last" in the old days.

To be fair to Karel, he would have got 13th out of 14 if Toni Elias hadn't crashed.

I am no fan od Abraham, feeling that he is a bit of a spoiled rich kid whose Daddy buys him motorbike rides.
But fair do's to him.
He has shown good pace over the winter, he did not crash and he would not have finished last if the other riders had finished.
I am unsure what it says though about the category currently.
Clearly these bikes are more forgiving and easier to ride for new riders and the satellite bikes are not so far away from the factory bikes (witness Edwards' ride).
Back in the days of 500 2T bikes Abraham would have been lapped easily, but he was a long way off that.
Good on him!
