Great, thanks for that.. so being a newbie to all this.. how does it work? Everyone camps out, hangs out.. bla bla bla.. what about riding? As it's not that far from me it's not really a biggie to go camping as I don't know anyone but I'd be up for a ride :-) What's the usual format? cheersWe will mostely be meeting up Friday, Saturday we ride somwere for a feed then like friday night party/chill out and generally clown around, Sunday feeling rather sad with our selves we head home.
So dont be afarid of us, we may lick but dont bite, no camping as such.

Man, that dude on the right is hung like a Brahman bull, what a stud...:gob::woohoo:
Clangers that look like a pair of medicine ball is a spud sack...

I don't do camping either which is why this is perfect for me...this place has beds for 36 and then some could dos in the lounge.

Go on, I dare ya, come on over on Friday after woork, it's only $15.00 a night, bring a blanket, a wee drink, bit of food and all the entertainment is on the house.

On Saturday we'll all head off for a nice relaxed ride over the Takaka hill for some fun and food...just where we lunch is still undecided. Being another local you'll be handy to have around to show these poor unfortunate ones some really nice roads and scenery. You know, all those secret back roads that no out-of-town loopie would know.

I'll be taking my bbq out, but there is an amazing kitchen for cooking etc.

As to not knowing anyone...join the club. I know four of them the rest are not strangers, just friends I have not met yet. If it makes you feel any better we can hook up for a ride or two before hand, it is 5 weeks away .... :woohoo: only 5 weeks to go.

Hi Mr Sensible, you are indeed a wise, gracious man. I'll definately be ringing to let them know we are coming. Now, perhaps one lovely could stand up and make the decision of where we would like to consume some local fare.

OMG, Poor Mister S, being exposed like that for no apparent reason. :sweatdrop

My pick is "The Muscle Inn", they brew their own beer, great food, its location means that you are well on the way to Collingwood & Farewell Spit for those who might want a longer ride via Pakawau to the Spit & return. :woohoo:

A ride for lunch "over the hill" will most likely rule out those arriving on saturday, being able to do it. Perhaps Pelorus bridge or St Arnaud ... a GOOD loop to and from Nelson that want it ... a good direct route for those that don't. And a good meeting up place for those arriving on the day ... from wherever ...

If things go to plan (unlike most of this year so far, so not placing any bets or paying any deposits) we'll be heading up friday, although may get sidetracked visiting on saturday and flag the lunch ride, too much bloody family living in nelson these days...

'Twould be a mortal sin to travel to Nelson and NOT traverse the mountain. Even if one does arrive on the Saturday they would have ample time to at least go to the top.

Is it really only four weeks and three days to go?:2thumbsup

There's always the option for those that can't/don't want to go over the hill to go for a shorter ride, or even just chill out at the camp.

Thanks for the previous replies to my questions. Now, is there anywhere I can just see what the ride details are instead of wading through all this banter?! When you don't visit this thread all the time and read all this bla it's hard to find the relevant details. Which is simply where & when. I know it's on the 10th, and I remember reading that you're thinking of going over the hill to GB but has anything been finalised yet? eg. meeting times along the way - I live in Riwaka so could meet up with the ride at the pub on your way through for example, along with any others. Thanks :-)

LOL, as I am discovering with these fine people, is that there is no set time for anything, just cruise.

But, yes, the ride over to Golden Bay for lunch is a definate, as to time to met at Riwaka...I guess we'll need to exchange cell numbers to stay in touch. I would think that they would be on the road by at least 9.30, Riwaka about 10.30-11.00, I'll be taking the long way off the busy highways for those that would like to see some interesting wee roads...Mr Ghostbullet does remember our last wee trek to Takaka.

I have no idea of others wishing to hook up on the way....more wait and see what unfolds.

What I do know is that I'm driving to Paretai on Friday at 1 with all my gear and my BBQ, then Mr Dangerous (please) will take me back to mine to collect my bike.

I also know that I must sort the fire permit, make sure gas bottle is full and that I have bourbon. Oh and I must not forget my chicken cage!!!

1 tablespoon chipotle puree
1 cup tomato puree, canned
¼ cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 5-6 limes)
2 teaspoons cumin, ground
1 teaspoon coriander seed, ground
1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup

We plan to meet the Christchurch rabble somewhere on the way, perhaps at Springs Junction on Friday morning then stop at ?Murchison for lunch and arrive at Camp KB mid afternoon! Well that is the plan at the mo!:woohoo: And we will have our pjs and wear them Quinton style!

Afternoon all....yes I am counting down the days. Must sort that trailer out too.

I've just rang a lovely lady in Pohara who has a fine establishment and let her know we'll be over for lunch around 1ish on the Saturday. Penguin Cafe...I even think there is a Penguin Colony just around the corner for those that wish to have an after-eating stroll.

I would think a pre-lunch walk and a prequel to the evenings poultry affairs.

With the Penguins, a kinda "Catch and Cook" back at the cafe.... I am loving that idea....

So a relaxed lunch stop at Murch would be the go for Friday?

It would go well with the firm leaving time of 9 to 10am from Hanmer for C.B (normajeane) and I.

We can lolligag around at Murch and let the stragglers catch up then.

And it's only about 100km from Murch to Lee Valley and 'KB Kamp Runnamuck'
