Found myself applying advice I'd read on here this morning and waddya know, it worked! Not to say I wouldn't have done the same thing without reading it, but hey, who knows, and credit where it's due, yeah?

Met one of those ute drivers who use all of the road this morning i.e. both sides of the white line and the white line as well...

Riding a longish, tightish left hander at a respectable angle of lean and a respectable speed, when coming the other way I meet ute boy - with only his left hand wheels on his side of the road...:blink:

Brief moment of arse-twang later, there springs into my mind some comments I read on here many moons ago - along the lines of "trust your tyre technology and apply counter steering by the shovel full." Which is what I did and hey, it all worked just like the book says.

Like I said, I may well have done that anyway but I did remember reading it. So there ya go. And ya know what? I seem to remember the comment came from our very own Carver. Hard to believe, eh? :whistle:

I think bike tech, including tyres, is playing a bigger role in avoiding poor driving.

Wifey had a :gob: moment the other night coming back from work riding the Daytona. A freak pulled out in front of her (SH3 heading south airport rd turn-off for those that know the Waikato) and ends up stalling in the middle of the road (100km/h zone too). She fully hauled on the anchors with the rear wagging. Apparently pulling up with a meter to spare. She starts ripping him a new one, and a person waiting to turn in decides to join in as well.

She didn't want to get off the bike since she's a short ass and didn't want to do something stupid like forgetting the stand. But she said if she did she would have needed a new helmet because it would have found it's way through the window.

I can only imagine what would have happened if she was riding her old bike, GSX650F. It was a good bike but it didn't have nearly the top shelf tyres or brakes that are on the Daytona.

Ya just gotta trust your ride and hope for the best when the shit hits the fan (or your shorts :) )

Yeah people are always in a hurry to get out of there. I think she'll take it super cautious from now on too.

It was funny, the first thing she said to me when she got home was "you nearly didn't have a bike tonight [pause] and a wife" :) priorities first haha.
