2013 Triumph 675 Daytona - let's take our time folks

So we often see leaks of next year's models but now MCN are going to the silly side making two year ahead assumptions with spy pics of the next 675, BUT claiming it will be a 2013 release!

Who cares about bikes we may be able to buy in the distant future.

I find that hard to believe. Especially with MV about to mix it up with their own 675 beauty, Triumph will be keen to respond asap. Not that we can trust MCN but it 'appears'from the vid. that Triumph have something in the pipeline to replace the 5 year old Dayt. Well I hope so.

Maybe Triumph are feeling the pinch of the recession and slowing down their R&D but why would they be testing, what looks like a nearly fully developed bike, only to hold it back until 2013?

Next year might see some tasty new bikes. Maybe a new Blade. New Tuono due, new Husky Nuda, new MV675, replacement Ducati 1198. What else? I would expect Yammy to do something with the R1 soon too. Rumours of a BMW 675/600 supersport. Nearly forgot, a new 1200 Tiger

Hope someone has some money left to buy these new toys.

It will take me years to save for the next new one!

Actually my next one probably won't be brand new - it will be a one owner, mint, low km unit that I will then modify to my requirements.

I doubt we'll see a new R1 for 12 Mark, more likely an R6 which is essentially 6 years old now. I'd love to see an FZ1 with a crossplane.

Reckon, that'd be mint, about 150hp but with a big fat wodge of torque along with an SP version for an extra $2k or there abouts that upgrades it with Ohlins suspension.
Edit: I'd like to see a heavily upgraded FJR too but with no price hike as they are too expensive as it is, they should at least bring it into line with the Concours (spec wise) considering they cost the same.

Oh yeah. Nothing to do Jimmy with the fact that the crossplane engine is possibly the best motor ever made for wheelies. I swear you could wheelie the current R1 while supping on a cup-a-tea without spilling a drop.

The FZ1 is another of those often overlooked bikes that deserved better recognition. A friend joins us on our annual Sth island trek with a FZ1 and he absolutely rockets along.

Yeah, agreed. Its not like buying a car for your business thats tax deductible, claim the cost of interest, depreciation etc, the depreciation hit on a new bike is fabulous, and you get to wear it out of your tax paid income.

Your plan is a good one, particularly when you figure that you will have to upgrade the suspension on any bike you buy, pretty much.

2011 and it's one hell of an upgrade of the regular daytona 675, if I had the money I would be getting myself one of those in a heart beat :yes:

Update. Actually more unsupported speculation.

Latest AMCNews says Triumph were intending to release a new 675 in 2012 but may now hold off until they have time to evaluate the impact of the MV675.

If it was my business I would be tempted to do the same. No point completing the maufacturing process for a bike that will be second best the day it reaches the showrooms.

Seems the 2012 standard 675 will take on a black belly pan much like the current 2011 675R.

I can only assume the 2012 675R will be nothing more than a subtle colour trim change.

Would be good to see a significant revamp sooner rather than later for this nifty wee track bike.

they should sell them like Honda used to (SP-1, CBR600RR), just as production racing track bikes, no lights, no indicators, white gelcoat bodywork, quickshifter and no warranty.
