or for an actually good idea, as i was saying to ducatilover a few days ago, make the tips look like the adjustable thrust nozzles on jet fighters, and have them open up as exhaust gas volume increases :D Twin under or in-tail would be the tits!

Omg do it! That would be amazing, I assume the springs are weak enough to not cause any difference in compression? Please do this, that would be cool.

What's wrong with the new engine?

Only update I have at the moment is new LED indicators arrived, they're stupidly bright.
I've been job hunting/fixing other people piles of shit instead of my own toy, bit of drinking in between too.

I'm currently attempting to work out what I want to do with the exhaust, I have a new idea but it'll be rather loud.

Re-mounted the rear brake res. again, got bored. Went over the top, painted the hose clamps because they weren't pretty enough and did the res. cap silver, because....I was bored.

NOS + Turbo

firstly, if youre prepared to do the work yourself, the rurbo thing can be done, if youre a cheapass, you can modify the compressor wheel etc ont he turbo off say a 1200 starlet so that it will work on your bike with a thicker headgasket to lower the compression. few oil feeds and some pipework and youre away laughing. Turbo rat-fighter bike FTW!!

As for the NOS kits, yes those are also readily available, and if you are serious about it, I can give you some links. If I can get the coin together, I will buy a kit for myself.

Turbo is fairly easy, the CT9A from a Starlet is okay, IHI RHB51 would be ideal, I had a CT12A(w) sitting around a while ago too. Setting one up is easy enough.
I'd run a spacer under the barrels/block if i was going that way, easy to make and won't blow under compression like a hori thick non-Oring head gasket.
Cut down a small intercooler (also had one a while ago  ), plumb a BOV in, a dirty external wastegate too, just 'cos :innocent: oil feed from the oil pressure switch return to sump or anywhere higher than the oil level and lower than the turbo....Bit of carb trickery, sexy manifold, alloy airbox and it's sorted

Not that I've thought about it or anything. :innocent:

I wouldn't actually run NOS, too expensive over time and only a temp power gain, a flexible turbo set-up or very small blower would do the job.

That dude is planning on 12psi to start with, motr later. It's got all the strong internals and a big bore kit.
I'd go with 6psi on a standard motor with lowered compression, not huge boost so detonation is not a big risk and it won't throw a rod if tuned right.
Superchargers are good, but, I think I'd need a stronger crank or a crank brace.

I like them, but are they bright enough?

You'll need to pare that back to avoid a 'blinker' effect. It's hard enough to see at night without blanking out everything that's not in a metre wide corridor directly in front of you.

Like though, heading in the right direction.

Pulled my front wheel off today and got the top clamp on, bars at the right height too.
The speedo drive on the ZZR wheel is 2mm too thick, so there's 2mm clearance on one side and 6mm on the speedo side (between the disk and brake mounting brackets.) So the lower part of the fork leg will need to be machined to suit I suppose  Pic whore time.

Top clamp on and headlight cover/thingy sitting pretty, cable ties rule. 246883246884

Is that like a computer made out of water?

I reckon we go with the simple option here. Put an extra caliper on the rear rotor (underslung), and hook its master up to a mechanical gyro. Gyro stays level, bike goes to far back, bam, back brake comes on. Various lever ratios would give different rotational correction velocites, so no problems there. The rotational correction velocity would also be proportional to the unintended pre-correction velocity, thus promoting learning :sherlock:
Might have to run the gyro with an air turbine, but could add an air compressor on there too. Much simpler than a precision bar out the back with wheels!

So guys, leave the black on the frame? Or spend seventy more years polishing?

The reason I didn't polish the whole frame in the first place is the black parts are cast alloy and fucking ugly, they'll take a huge amount of sanding to get flat and pretty.
Oh well, it can be done. :headbang:

Sandpaper - man that's devotion. I found the atosol good but it also seemed to damage dull the paint if i overshot the rims slightly. Maybe I just hadn't left the paint long enough to fully cure before polishing the rims:doh:

I did the polishing before painting the rim, but I'd just mask it up or be careful. It takes fucking hours to take back paint and polish alloy, the result is great though.

My guess at it, red lines are all on the same plane, green ones go to the shock mount. Advantage is we can just grind all the undeeded crap off your current subframe and use that for half the work, unless that is wheelie fucked too?

I think the cross bar is probably too far back in that sketch, should be just in front of the back of the seat.

Nice idea! That'd be light and hidden (like my missus :msn-wink:)

The subframe is the good one, I cut up this one instead of the bent one  so it's straight. Fuckin' ugly though, will definitely have to get the grinder out

I'll try dig out my spare shock/linkage bolts. The top shock mount is quite a bit skinnier than the other parts

I might go stick the front wheel on now, have filed down those little bits that were fouling with the speedo drive

I got my front wheel on again.
Might start finishing the tank, it's fuckin' ugly and crap at the moment.
Tail unit will follow that, I needs to get some primer though, I'm more or less out of painting shit in general

The list:
Front brake lines.
Fork rebuild.
polish/paint rear wheel.
Take a fuck load of length off the loom.
Battery/loom box under the tank/carbs.
Exhaust system.
Steering bearings.
Headlight cowling.
Speedo set up.
Body work stuff/paint.

I think that's all?

What I want to to if I stumble across one of those things that pays me in return for doing stuffs,
Sexier swing arm, maybe a 'Prilia one or Viffer SSA.
Wave disks and Tokico gold calipers.
Lighter wheels.
Alloy subframe.

And an idea I had today,

sounds mean, def bang a single side swinger, I had a vfr400 ss and rim on my cbr600 fighter. gotta find matching front wheel too.

haha two petrol tanks? that sounds like fire.. you could make a fuel cell and mount it as low as possible to bring down center of gravity and just have a dummy plastic tank up top :D prob have to put the fuel cell where ur batt is tho. and just flag the battery, use one of those bettery eliminators.. flag the push button start.

Will drill/tap the original fairing mounts (I knew I left them there for a reason!) and thread the indicators in there  252800

Also, fuck the headlight shroud.
I'm going to stack the lights as they were in the shroud and have nothing else around them.
SIMPLE IS BEST!!!!!! I want it clean, very very clean.

Anyone know of where I can get 55 and 60w versions of these? 50mm diameter single filament, sealed beam. 252802252803252804252805

I thought I'd add up what it's cost so far.
Bear in mind this is on the tightest budget, ever due to my now loss of job.

ZZR600, frame, wheels, motor etc. $200.
ZZR600 carbs, rubbers and a few cables, $200.
Tail unit, $50.
Pilot Powers off a race bike $50
ZXR400H USD forks, $300
Tail light $20
Indicators $25
30cm LED strip, $1.51
That's $846.51 in my maths?

Not bad at all.
Hours of work? I don't care, but over 30 hours in polishing
I have to say, I wouldn't be this far in to the build without the help of Bogan. He is owed a shitload of beer when I have an income that's more than $160/wk....Rep him.
Same goes for CBFB, he's loaned me a few tools and offered the use of his Mig welder more than once.

I am surprised no-one has mentioned this Doug, but you cannot use use those lamps as headlights on a road going motorcycle in New Zealand, simply because they must have SAE type approval (because they must cast the correct type of beam into on coming traffic.

If you want to run this style of headlight, you will have to find an existing bike model that has this style, and retro fit them off the top of my head, Ducati and Hyosung use this style on some models.

I suggest Hyosung will be cheaper.

Plus you get mega bunus points for tricking out your Kawasaki with Hyosung parts.

Much like walking into a Gay bar wearing assless leather chaps, ordering a Cosmo, and asking "where the girls at ?"
