Hey Guys,

I have a CBR250R MC19. Year of 1989. I have just bought this and am fixing it up as it had some slides. When purchased I was told that the carbs need tuning. I took it into my mechanic and was told that no, the bike had stiff diaphragms. If i could get them in from japan they would cost around $150 each, I need four and don't really have the money to buy them all :/. He told me that the carbs on these bikes are dependent on a vacuum to suck the fuel thorough and that maybe if I rolled on the power instead of on/off (don't really know how to explain this hope you guys can understand) I may not encounter the flat spot these diaphragms are causing... I have not gotten my License yet (waiting for the fairings) and so I can't ride it to test. Is there any other way to fix this problem other that buying new ones?

God Bless,
Luke

Have you tried ringing wreckers in the area? I'm sure some of the people on here could hook you up with some numbers that you should try.

Are the diaphragms the same part as the slides? (think they almost always are) I know for the RC31 we can get the slides reconditioned, and new rubber bits put on for around 1/2 to 2/3 the price iirc. I can try and hunt down who does it if that might be an option for you.

Try this guy, http://www.smebike.info/

Got told by honda new float valves for my bike were $80 each and would take 8 weeks. He had the 2 I need in stock with gaskets for $30. Saving me $130.
