My mate and I both ride XR250Rs Mines a 96 his a 2000 (other then red plastics pretty much the same bike). We were considering fitting road Kits to our bikes so we can legally ride on the roads between local tracks.

Question is what are the minimum requirements we would have to meet in order to get or bikes through wof/reg process? tail lights, Indicators, number plate mounts arnt really a problem - Headlight requirements and tyres were our first thoughts.

I know riding knobblies on the road will eat them up but were not looking at going fast over long distance just getting from A to B. But would knobblies event get through a warrent or is it a requirement to have dual purpose tyres?

Any other advice anyone can offer would be great

Dude you are probably going to be better off selling and buying road legal TBH. I live in Morningside however and things like rego lights and helmets are optional round here so you could always take your chances?

Bit tricky wit the paperwork if they've never been registered. Can be done but I'll leave that to someone who's up on the process.

Tyres need to be DOT endorsed. It's not actually a problem, there's some knobblies that are 99% as good as whatever full comp rubber you're used to.

Luck eh? let's know how it goes.

You could always shoot down to a VTNZ and ask them for a list of the requirements.
