:woohoo:Looking forward to another, sadly there wont be to many more in the current format.Whilst the change is inevitable for me anyway the "great race" just wont be such a great race once things change, enjoyed the GTR/Sierra thing but wasn't sad to see them go.The 8s are Dinosaurs but what Dinosaurs they are:woohoo:No doubt this weekend will be Vodafone V the rest but a little luck here and there of both kinds changes everything. As i have done for as long as i can remember Ive taken the weekend off and all is set for a great time.Any others into it?

Head tells me Lowndes/Skaife for the win but (much as it pains me) I'd go apeshit if The Giz/Johnny Mac came home first. Unfortunately I don't think either of those two have the Mountain experience to take it this year.

When i was up in Wellington selling cars a salesman mate of mine organized a huge piss up and rented the ground floor of a building directly opposite the pits at the old Wellington street race, from memory it was in 89,the GTR was lapping 5 seconds quicker than the BMW that won the race but was plauged with teething troubles so always in and out of the pits, watching its arse sink when the loud pedal was pressed when leaving the pits was awesome.:woohoo:Great day,$75 quid for a great view and all the piss you could drink.

To late mate we already claimed it back in 71 with the GTHO :bleh:,not so much the win but the HO went a large way to changing things from stock formula to what we have today.End of the day these days who wins matters little to me its more about the day though a Ford win puts a smile on my face, that and an early Murphy exit would make the day complete:woohoo:For my money its Vodafone V the rest but thats the thing with Bathurst eh,anything can happen.

Most Holden drivers get a bit defensive when you point out that they're driving a re-badged Daewoo...:innocent:
Not to mention there women,we had to call in at New World this morning to get supplies, outta this fag purple HSV shitter waddles "Mrs HSV" resplendent in Holden jacket/Nazi boots and more lippy than H Clark,Hubbys a cool dude with a Magnum PI thing going on below his nose, mate says "fuck thats ugly" to him and he replies "fuck you cunt you probably drive Toyota" mate in turn replies "was talking about your fat arse Mrs actually fella".

A rather tedious race compared with recent years.
Unfortunately we didn't get a result which equalled or bettered 2009...
We did all learn a few things though:
ford cars have bad brakes going uphill.
ford cars have bad brakes coming downhill.
ford cars have rather dodgy fuel tanks.
Fire marshalls are greatly respected by ford teams.
The "King of the Mountain" is truly Peter Brock.
The "King of the Finish Line" is Holden. 28 wins for the lion, compared to 18 wins for the blue oval.
Two rookies did bloody well, especially in the rain!

Always been Ford proud, through good times and bad,was pleased Tander won,the new kid as co-pilot rocked,to beat a combo or Lowndes and Skaife is amazing and the vodafone team is pretty damn switched on and consistant,Lowndes reminded me of LP always creeping up the leader board in last 20-25 laps(LP-Larry Perkins).
And I will never jump from team to team every 5 yrs like some people do,they buy ford gear for a while then holden when required(unless a true Lowndes fan that is ok).
And Stone bros did well considering Giz planted it when contesting the finish.

As much as i have enormous respect for Brock for me anyway the "king of the moutain" title will always go to Dick Johnson for when still a privateer beat a factory backed Brock on the mountain.Johnson did great things way before competing regularly at Bathurst his problem was he couldnt finance racing outside of his local circuit basically, when the rest of them came to town he would on occasion beat them but that it was it,didnt have the money to race everywhere.Years later after driving a ex Brock /Factory Bathurst raced Commodore he said "fuck he had it easy".

Ford had plans to make the '61 to '63 Thunderbirds FWD hence the strut type suspension as opposed to their earlier models, (they woosed out for fear of being stuck with a lemon I beleive) but as below sold the patents to GM.
" Long story short is that the project was on track for release in '63 but canned due to cost and the patents sold to GM - they refined the concept and came up with the Toronado/Eldorado FWD cars in the mid '60s. Tooling for the Thunderbirds shock towers and the suspension system being done so far in advance in anticipation of half-shafts, etc. meant that the package carried over for '64-66 Thunderbird. Of course most of you all know what happened with the changeover for '67 and reversion to/sharing of full-size Ford/Mercury technology and components."

Just saying..

It's wasted on one eyed ford fans, bought the caps and t-shirts, marketing dept quickly worked out their loyal fans never bought new falcons, but drove four cylinder front wheel drives, so are meeting their customers expectations with the real car they desire, ..(except the attempt to flog off a ford taurus as a falcon has failed once before). Meanwhile obama told the industry to make fuel efficient cars, GM then sold more Comaros than.. sorry customers bought more comaros, the VE commy is the donor car for those, so commy cemented it's place, GM V8's got supercharged instead of culled, meanwhile at ford.......'one ford' one car strategy across the globe.
