Who has owned one?, and what did you think of it?, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, of the bike. The reason I ask is I am looking at an older one with fairly high Ks on the clock, so would like to hear from owners and ex owners, thanks.

Ahem. Well yes. I once owned a 2005 FJR1300T. Procured as a Yamaha New Zealand demonstrator with about 4,000km on it and sold about 80,000km later. It now resides in Hawera.
I had previously owned an ST1300. The FJR is a vastly superior ride to the one Mr Honda builds -- it's lighter, has sharper steering, normal size tyres, better luggage that it doesn't have to have perpetually fitted to look half decent, better rider and pillion ergonomics and it doesn't get blown around like a sailing ship in a crosswind. And, if one is so inclined, it will run the arse of the Honda.
The Yamaha mill is one of the best motorcycle engines ever built. Surprisingly Yamaha doesn't fit it to any other models.
I did some modifications to mine: Ohlins suspension and TBR aural enhancements. I also fitted accessories points fore and aft as well as a Givi topbox.
If I bought one again, it would be the post-2007 model. Earlier models have wicked engine heat transfer issues when riding around town at slowish speeds, Yamaha sorted this completely from the 2007 models onwards.
Yes, the FJR is a sports tourer. Very sports and very tourer, when either fancy takes you.

2001, 105000 Kms, Ive got the service history going back to new, no obscure rattles, and seems to handel ok, for my average riding ability, 1300 cc @ 105000 Ks dosent worry me, and I aint going to be thrashing it.

I wouldn't consider 105,000Km to be high for a bike such as the FJR. I doubt it is halfway to any sort of engine work and would expect you to get many great rides and years more service from such a beast.

I would agree ...
High k's on those would be around 250-350 km's ... 100 thou is just about run-in ... :shifty:

Hi all
Yes Hitcher the FJR still resides in Hawera and is still runnning fantastically at 106,000kms with nil issues to date. Could possibly be calling in to see you in Feb 2012 when we head south again.
