:facepalm:Hi all.
The front break pads on my SV1000s K3 getting near to needing replacement. I have been recommended to go to genuine Suzuki pads for the SV, but a ring around indicates that nobody stocks them and the prices are twice anything else ($120 a set). :blink:
Can anyone give me advice on my best options for type, brand or retail outlet to get them from? I mainly use the SV for communiting to work and occasional joy ride when I can get away from the kids, and extremily rarely on the track....

I have done a seach on KB but did not find any solutions...

That's a silly piece of advice. Plenty of good aftermarket suppliers.

A search for the word brake instead of break might yield better results...

Hi Steve. RideLife can supply you English made DP sintered pads for your SV1000 @ $70/set delivered to your door. (we are here in NP)
DP are the Original maker of 'Sintered' brake pads (used to be called Dunlopad), so have been around for a while.
We have them in Standard (these would suit your application as they last longer), Sports HH+, and Race compounds.

As a reference list for bike parts, have you looked at bits4bikes? Seeing as it lists prices, can also tell you if your local dealer/retailer is on the level....

yep, did see that site, but at that stage was just looking for the Suzuki ones which wasn't listed. Good site though...

Dunno 'bout your SV but for my KTMs the OEM pads are by far the most expensive, but also outlast everything else so are the best value. So the ppl commending the OEM pads to you might be on to a good thing.

I have a lot of respect for the guy who told me that and he had nothing to gain from it, and yes he did say they lasted a lot longer and caused less wear on the rotors...but I guess OEM pads are just rebranded aftermarket pads (?)

but I guess OEM pads are just rebranded aftermarket pads (?)Possibly yes, with the qualification that they are a particular brand of aftermarket pad that may not be available here. The KTM OEM stuff is Brembo made by Toshiba. Seen any Toshiba pads for sale here?? :) Didn't think so. :D

I recently made the switch to EBC HH pads, significantly improved brake feel. I think the cause faster wear of the disc though, and if you swap without replacing the disk it is recomended you give it a light sand and then a longer bed-in procedure.

I put Gold Fren Sintered Ceramic Carbon race pads in mine.

They heat up quite good, good feel and I think the price wasn't bad either about $140 ish for all up for front and rear sets???

Yes, I've heard good things about EBC on some of the other forums I've been searching in, thanks for the advice on bedding in too. But it seems that every one has an opinion so does come back to personal preference and riding style. Guess the only way to find out is to get some pads, put them on and try them out. Think I might be looking into this way too much!

They sound like race pads to me, way above my league
