Hi...
What would be the avarage mileage that can be exspected
from a 600 / 650 single 4 stroke....
When I say avarage... a bike thats been looked after but
used... might have missed the odd oil change / air filter
not as clean as it could be etc... but not abused...
I'm looking at a 05 XT600 with 43,000 on it...

I had an XT 350 with 79'000 miles on it. Ran absolutely peachy despite being thrashed everywhere. It did have regular servicing though.

Loads of these around with well over 80,000km on them, many were rental bikes in NZ.
Just look out for flogged out 5th gear, often need replacing around 80-100,000 km.
Bit gutless overtaking at highway speeds, otherwise very reliable.
I would be very happy if my KTM gets anywhere near that high kms without half a dozen rebuilds

My DR6fiddy clocked up 66,666 miles on its last ride http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=739890 still runs sweet , change oil and filter every 3,000 km and steady on the throttle and steady off .

Yay, cheers Colin, feeling a lot better about my beastie now, prob just the rider will need a rebuild unless I do summit about that seat.....

Bit OT but I've scored an early LC4 cush rear wheel (thanks to Underground) and plan on finding out how many KM I can get from mine. LC4 wheel slotted straight in. Only PITA is the 3 tooth different sprockets which mean adjusting the chain tension bolts every wheel change. My arse is going to take a pounding :buggerd: in the process.
Now - just need to find a way to make more hours in the day.

Ready to rumble. Best of luck.
IIR, the XT's were a favourite of London despatch riders. An accolade in it's own right.

Durability didn't seem to be an issue for the sort of kays put on most adventure bikes.

The chain adjuster blocks are worth 2T apparently, so aim for that on the next sprocket change so you just have to flip them. I've just gone 15 & 17 front and 45 rear.

Luckily I got the axle as well which I think will be worth 3 teeth (longer side is longer than exc axle blocks) but it didn't quite fit without a bit of filing. Just done the filing so next wheel change will find out if it will work re 3 teeth. I'm running 13/48 trail and 13/45 adv. Can't change the front to a 15 now without 'modifying' the case saver and don't see the point at the moment cause I have 45 (incl two brand new spares), 48 and 52 rears. 13/45 is real nice for adv riding around Canty on the 450.
Sorry back on topic now.
Cheers R
