My old XR200r wont idle. Ive rekitted the carb, checked spark. But it wont idle. Is fine under power. Will idle at high speed on choke. Have adjusted air screw in and out. No change.
Any ideas?

Checked compression (ie valve open?). Whip the airfilter out & see if idles. Does it need replacing? Eventually they just get knackered. Sparkplug cap resistance?

Checked valves and decom adjustment, seems good. Starting to wonder if the idle jet is to small.

Think I sorted it. Got it to idle badly then took off the timing cover and adjusted it while it was running. Guess I stuffed it up before because it came right. Not perfect but way better.
Did check cam timing etc and it was fine.
Looking forward to its next blast now.

When I did the carb it got all new jets and it was blown out with a compressor. Its got the best idle its had yet.

thanks for the measurement.
I've had a few carbs ultrasonic cleaned, seems to be the way of the future when you see how much shite comes out of them from out of the way places
