Do any of us absolutely believe all that we read? No? Interesting...

This Bible, that has caused so much - trouble - is just the writings of man. I say 'man' because in the patriarchal society that spawned this collection of stories, no-one took any notice of women, apart from the obvious, and therefore would consider few their utterings important enough to write down.

What does Grandpa have to say about the theory that unmarried women were considered virgins, even if not technically so. If Joseph and Mary indulged in a little heavy petting (not unlikely, let's face it), and with or without any penetration Mary was the recipient of a little juice in or about her interesting bits, she could have become pregnant.
Now, in those god-fearing superstitious times, an excellent story to explain this awkward situation would of course be to say "God did it".

For centuries religions have decided for themselves what the Bible says and have both innocently and more, deliberately misled the people as to it's message. It is behoven upon us as individuals to read and examine it for ourselves without regard to religious dogma, doctrine or tradition.

Doing so would go a long way to dispelling the myths and misconceptions and would put the churches in their place.

Good answer, Grandpa. And, I am surprised, it was an answer, not a response...

Take any so-called miracles (which are just shit that no-one could explain at the time) out of it, and what you are left with is not much more than Aesop's Fables...a book of stories about morals.

hey there pops..................black holes in space............i presume God created them.............whats their purpose?

We have been given many things to explore and understand. Man is curious by nature and naturally seeks to explore and understand the world around him. We are not given all the answers, just the intelligence to find them for ourselves which is more exciting and satisfying.

Do your study and research and discover this for yourself. It is a gift and a blessing.

Dear grandpa

why are dirt bikes far more superior then road bikes?

As with beauty, superiority is in the eye of the beholder. Often confused with personal preference, superiority is dependent upon the desire and lifestyle choices of the individual. You may find dirt bikes are superior to road bikes and this would be true in an off-road setting, but would fail on a road race track. Superior items are those which best fulfil their design intent.

Grandpa,
you are sooooooo knowledgeable. Every question so far you have known the answer and they are always right.

Excuse me for being a cheeky youngun and asking the mostest hardest question in the whole world.

When someone crashes there motorbicycle and tells everyone on KB why do people argue so much?
Some of them are really nasty and say mean things.

Thank you young man. My desire is that all may benefit from my wisdom and thereby have a less stressful and more satisfying life.

Everyone has an opinion and sadly, some fail to read and understand the post before offering said opinion. Some lack tact, some lack empathy, some fail while yet meaning well. We therefore should be self-confident enough that we do not take the opinions of others personally whole considering whether there is a valid point made that we can learn from.

Grandpa, do dogs go to heaven when they die? :crybaby:

All living things are made of the natural elements of the Earth and since death is the opposite of life when a living thing dies it reverts to the elements of which it was made.

It is a church teaching that misrepresents what the Bible says about death in order to keep their followers following them.

Why did cutting a perfect avocado make my day Grandpa?
And does this muffler look nice? 256194

If one has found a perfect Avocado one has found a good thing and one should take the greatest satisfaction in enjoying this.

The muffler looks nice.

I know Ed, I have read the Bible.... I am just sad that's all. I believe dogs like Monty (who died) are here to teach us many things, love and compassion, and the value of life. He will live on in our hearts.

Sadly despite the best efforts of the manufacturers all things mechanical are used by human beings who are not uniform in either physical dimensions or skill and experience. On top of that, as humans we are prone to making errors of judgement and simply falling down. When such occurs, the speed and angle of our movement dictates the consequences.

Blame is not always helpful as much as some like to apportion it but sympathy and empathetic advice may be.

The short answer is your question was flawed. I could have filled a page with explaining what black holes in space are but as you were being a smartarse I thought it well to put it back on you. :sunny:

Mankind's role is to be a good caretaker of the Earth and all living things on it. Sadly he has failed to appreciate the beauty and value of what he is an intrinsic part of. Dogs particularly have a capacity to teach us much about life and a sensitive and caring person will treat them in kind. Death is sad and for some the death of certain animals is harder to deal with than others.

I have found yet another perfect one, am I blessed?
Thanks grandpa

An Avocado afficionardo will find many perfect examples and thus feel truly blessed all his days.

dear grandpa.......this is gonna be a 5 part question...........you may want to sit down.......(1)please explain how in anyway my first question was flawed?............(2)here it is again..........can you please explain the purpose of black holes in space?...its either yes or no.......the answer you gave is in my opinion a cop out.....if the answer you think is correct/truth takes you a page to explain....so be it...no hurry....take your time.....i will read it and respond (3)why the unprovoked "smartarse" personal attack on me?.....usually the actions of someone with something to hide or no real answer to the question asked......(4)how would you have responded to the original question if it was a child asking it...........(5)would you call him a smartarse or an inquisitive child?

Heres one for ya Gramps... How do I fix my bikes :crybaby:

It is a four step process. First ascertain what, if anything requires fixing. Secondly ascertain what the fix involves. Thirdly decide whether you have the equipment and skill necessary to carry out the fixing. Finally, take the bike to a reputable bike mechanic.

I was being facetious and posting tongue in cheek.

No offense intended but apologies if taken.

The flaw is in asking what their purpose was rather than whether, being a natural phenomenon whether they had a purpose in the first instance.

Black holes, being as they are a site of a collapsed star are a natural result of Universal processes and do not have a purpose as such but do provide an interesting phenomenon to study.

Hi Grandpa...I expect that you will give what you believe to be an answer, but will in fact be a response.
I also expect that you will have had a great weekend yourself.

Now for the question.

Am I right?

You're welcome...

However I do still recommend personal study as many apparent anomolies can be resolved with independent, open-minded study. It has been an absorbing 35 years+ for me and I have learned an incredible amount of history, archaeology, languages and religion.

Consider that there is virtually nothing at all about the mainstream churches that is in agreement with the Bible. Every single doctrine or teaching of the church contradicts what the Bible says. The Trinity, Hellfire, the Immortality of the human soul, the Clergy v. Laity class, celibacy, Easter, Xmas... all are not from the scriptures but from Pagan religious traditions and beliefs. Beware of anyone who claims anything about the Bible without personal knowledge and references to back up what they say.

I seem to have misplaced the question about paint rollers and the excess paint apparent in the cleaning of them.

The reason for this is, of course, that the cleaning fluid, whether water or paint thinners, does thin the paint and cause it to spread further, diluting and adding unhelpful volume to it.

This natural phenomonen has been oft exploited by unscrupulous tradesmen to make more money from their unwitting customers, whereby they can cover the same area of the building with less actual paint applied.

Like most marketing campaigns the KY Jelly advertisments are designed to appeal much the way all marketing campaigns are, in that the suggestion is if you do not buy this product you are missing out on something beneficial and necessary, relying on the placebo effect to endorse its effectiveness.

We live in an artificial world that insists we are incapable of achieving happiness and fulfillment without artificial aids.

Unless you are a sad case and are making love to your motorcycle, it is irrelevant what brand of bike you ride.

The mind boggles as to why one would apply liquid nails to one's penis! :pinch:

Also are you referring to the carpentry liquid nails or the women's finger liquid nails, as there are two options here, (three if it gets desperate...:innocent:).

" the women's finger liquid nails" and now it starts to make a bit more sense. You should ensure it is dry before engaging.
If it is the other :weird: I know some say they love their hobby but I always took that figuratively
