Here is a link to my track day video, this one is cut into a short video but there is one other video for a full session in group 2.
Let me know what you think and where I could be improving. Cheers.

1) SV650 - replace with real motorbike
2) Who the hell let you put a Ducati tailpiece on a Suzuki!!!!
3) WHAT THE FUCK WAS UP WITH THAT BLOKE IN SHORTS AND T-SHIRT ON THE TRACK AT AN ART DAY AND APPEARING TO BE INSTRUCTING???? !!!!!!!!
At least it seemed that way cos you were all watching.
That is pretty fucked up if my opinion is asked the organisers should know better, no excuses!
4) Pukekohe can be an unforgiving place if treated lightly, do not treat it lightly whatever you do. Sometimes I think that people do, a bit.

That is pretty fucked up if my opinion is asked the organisers should know better, no excuses! I was wondering with that as well, he was showing the line back when I first started going there, they have made it clear now that they should all be in leathers even if it's just to show a corner.

Never treat it lightly, but I continue to push myself on that track, never reached any "Oh shit" moments yet, thank God!

Nice vid, like the sound track.
My 2 cents?
Fit a steering damper to the SV if you haven't already.
Stay smooth and the speed will come, rather than try to go fast and push things.
Leave room for error, yours and others.
Look long towards where you want to go.
Spend any spare money on fresh Pirellis.
Keep having as much fun as you obviously already are. Motorcycle Racers understand why dogs put their heads out of car windows..:woohoo:

Cheers mate, I haven't got a steering damper or the funds as of yet to purchase one. I am about to get a nice sticky Dunlop at the moment. Have a PR2 on the back, and a Diablo Superbike on the front, also a superbike slick for the back but don't think I am ready to experiment with slicks as of yet.
Yea I am having a bucket load of fun, I usually ride a GSX250 so have only got this bike recently for the track and have only taken it out 2 times now? So I am moving along happily but hoping that group 3 will help me improve lap times, lines and being smooth. Going to have another Sv650 out with me to do a session and see what i can do with the same bike in front of me. Will also be trying out a 675 and a GSXR750 for a shit and giggle.

A couple of pointers:
On the right handers you missed the apex on; Identify your turn point, and move it a little later. Then turn later, faster, and turn your head to look through the corner (before you actually make the turn). I think you got it on the corner before the back straight, but you tended to miss some.
Hope that helps a little....
Can't really give too much out without following you.

cheers mate, yea I haven't actually set any turn points so that's where I will be going wrong. much appreciated.

As QB said find your apex points, but also you need to identify braking points ie markers and work on one corner at a time for each track day (or less if you feel you have it nailed), get that one right then move on to the next !

It actually looked pretty good to me. You dont need a steering damper. Your lines were fine. Just keep riding around doing much the same and when a problem arises ask someone at the day that is super fast and dont trust what those ART instructors say.
California Superbike School is where its at. IMO all other training is a joke in comparison

Cheers Choppa. I will be in group 3 so should have some fast guys with me, currently lapping 1.18-1.20 but will have instructor on same bike who does 1.07s who will go out with me. wish I had the money for CSS.

Yeah its expensive! Just keep doing laps open the throttle harder for longer, brake less and when you do brake, brake hard. Make sure your on good tyres.

My suspicions were correct.
Yes, the skills taught at CSS are second to none.
I wouldn't actually go as far to say the rest are a joke though, it is just you get what you pay for.

Yeah fair call, its great what they do because its basically free and helpful. Problem is I have seen the wrong advice being given which is counter-intuitive.

How so? I am lucky to have only a few of the guys riding that I trust and are damn good that have actually followed me and led me through so that is always good, just a matter of setting up turn in points etc... and working on a select few things.

I think what Choppa is illuding to is that some of the advice "mates" give can actually be technically incorrect.
If you improve, the well in good, but you may not.
It sounds like you have a good plan in place though.
I know for a fact Choppa himself, even though a great rider, got a lot out of professional instruction (even though he didn't believe he wouldn't at first), and some of his beliefs were blown out of the water.
