As a young boy...I use to sing a song that Mum taught me.
Its went something like...
Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?
Yes! Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?
Last week, that same song surfaced yet again after 40+ years.
An 'older' gentleman told me what the real lyrics were...
It mentions four different animals and I awoke the next morning wanting to eat porridge for some reason.

A few years ago when someone was really driving me nuts I suddenly realised what the saying "Happiness is a warm gun" meant...

The connection is clear: His mum used to sing this strange song while she would stir the big pot of porridge over the open fire using her wooden spoon.

Picture of a thistle on the Porridge packet. That is why I refer to thistles as Porridge Plants -that confused the kids for a while.

Wow - this is what constitutes a thread on kiwibiker these days; "Misunderstood poetry from my childhood years".
Nice to see our standards are ever-increasing :sunny:

Competition for the night night thread or the one on cockrot?...
Taking from the night night thread..
You get my vote for the most meaningless pointless dribble thread ever started Nedwin. Pure genius
