I've decided that I'm sick of being ripped off by Xtra for Jetstream so I'm in the market for a new internet provider.

Minimum requirements are: 256K download, 5 gigs per month.

Xtra charge $50 for 256K with 3 gigs. (http://www.telecom.co.nz/chm/0,5123,203071-202469,00.html)

Orcon charge $50 for 256K with 10 gigs (http://www.orcon.co.nz/products/bitstream/residential)

Inspire charge $45 for 256 with 10 gigs ($40 for 5 gigs) (http://www.inspire.net.nz/408.html)

Does anyone know of any other options with ISPs, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Tried your namesake Slingshot?

I pay $49 a month for unlimited 256K access.

I use Clear.net.nz (http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/products/internet/highspeedADSL/) and once it was sorted (I got it when it first came out, so a few teething probs that should have been sorted by now), and now it's running fine, it's fast and always on.. sweet as.. and 38 bucks.. not bad.

Uh..... I'm thinking of ditching Telescum too...

Shouldn't I get more than a 40-80kb average download speed on a 2Mb connection???

That's only for 1gig though...I'd chew through that too fast.

get telstra 2mg... it is $80 a month, but cheaper if you have your toll calls with them, with a 10gb d/l and you can buy extra gig blocks for $18.70

oh yeah, it's a bit cheaper if you have tolls with TCL. Don't know if that $38 includes the discount or not (think it does).
But I also know that the caps are being reviewed, and the prices are staying the same..
