So it's "better" to use artificial sweetener than sugar is it then? Not for me it's fucking not...

I eat many of those foods from time to time and I still haven't turned into a lard-arse. Funny that.

Funny how no mention of exercise required to combat excess limits of fatty substances ... or amount of such that benefits the body (and when). I regulary eat ALL of that stuff ... and ... am as skinny as ...

Moderation ... is the key.

Right on. Especially the exercise bit.

Yeah, some of it is ridiculous. It's not the product, it's what the damned food companies put into the products which is the problem - too much sugar/starch and the chemicals to prolong the shelf life of the products.

I make my own muesli and jam now, because the ones off the shelf have too much sugar in them. I also try to cook all our own meals for the family rather than eating pre-cooked food, as well as buy sausages from the butcher, for example, rather than the ones in packages at the supermarket. KFC is a treat, not a regular meal choice.

I've managed to switch my whole family over to wholemeal bread and will try to switch them again to wholegrain or multi-grain. I've also switched our rice from the regular Jasmine to Basmati which has a lower glucose content (or slower glucose absorption rate). I;m also making at least one of my meals a day vegetarian because I realise I eat way too much meat, more than I need.

It's not about what you eat, it's how much and how sensible you are... Exercise helps tremendously too and enables you to eat some of thoe 'unhealthy' foods.

I was appalled to see that on the front of turdays Herald. Encouraging people to eat highly processed foods full of artificial additives WTF? Wonder who payed for the research. Bollocks, cobblers, tosh & balderdash.

By the way if you subscribe to the comic you get a free Closer to the Edge DVD with your mis-information & targeted journalism.

Yep these people piss me off, they're equivalent to those religions that force their views on everyone.
These people are gonna fuck things up for all of us, all because they're on some sort of self-righteous, self-importance trip. Bout time they got off their high-horse I think

Yeah, some of it is ridiculous. It's not the product, it's what the damned food companies put into the products which is the problem - too much sugar/starch and the chemicals to prolong the shelf life of the products.

Again ... moderation is the key to these. Small amounts pose no threat. Total avoidence (unless of allergies) is just plain silly.

I make my own muesli and jam now, because the ones off the shelf have too much sugar in them. I also try to cook all our own meals for the family rather than eating pre-cooked food, as well as buy sausages from the butcher, for example, rather than the ones in packages at the supermarket.

Most supermarkets have pre-cooked foods ... cooked in their own bakerys. Few additives (if any) and if frozen shortly after purchase ... make a quick heathy meal base. With fresh vegies too .... nothing healthier. Supermarkets usually package their own meats (often from their own butcher shop) ... only price varies from butcher shop meats. Supermarket prices are usally only cheaper because of quantity sold, not quality.

I've managed to switch my whole family over to wholemeal bread and will try to switch them again to wholegrain or multi-grain. I've also switch our rice from the regular to Basmati which has a lower glucose content (or slower glucose absorption rate).

A varied (not just the healthy stuff) diet will do more for the aid of digestion ... than the reliance on "the right" foods to achieve good digestive health. Sugars aren't evil ... only in excessive amounts can harm be caused.

Healthy eating is not a science ... just common sense.

It's not about what you eat, it's how much and how sensible you are... Exercise helps tremendously too and enables you to eat some of those 'unhealthy' foods.

I believe Macca's are perfectly safe ... as they contain no real foods ... but it is dangerous to have a "no real food" diet.

 please tell me how you make your jams??? Jam is supposed to be pretty much 50/50 fruit/sugar yet you claim "off the shelf ones have too much sugar", you sure you don't mean too many artificial preservatives???

butter
cream
creme fraiche
lard

are vital ingredients.....

sugar ahhh, not always

honey, well that could soon be a thing of the past if we kill those little honey bees off

fruit juice...., get a juicer or a blender......yum

the secret is cook your own - that is the best quality and quantity control, preservatives and conservatives will preserve and conserve on ones hips - to be avoided, moderation is always good but sometimes over rated......a good feast is a good feast, enjoy your vegies, cook your chicken and pork, and a nice steak is always rare.

at about 65 kg i am at my heaviest ever, if i continue with my bacon and crackle diet i met get curvey in old age - Yei!!!!

Bloody hell, I'm yet to even find 100kg! That is a good effort.

I'm a bit confused with the whole eating thing. Essential nutrients are essential right? but you only need so many? So you get those from a salad, then have a chocie bikie, then go for a jog to use up the sugar, where am I going wrong? At a pretty ripped 65kg I can't be going too wrong, right? :bleh:

easiest thing in the world to do too. the secret is par boiling the potatoes for five minutes then throwing htem in the colander to drain first then shake them round so you rough up the surfaces. then toss them in the duck fat with pepper and salt and roast (roll them round so theyre evenly coated). best. potato. ever.
