I may need to ship a motorbike interisland [Archive]

Im sorry if this has been covered before, but my question is does anyone know of a firm who would ship (i.e. freight) a motorcycle from Auckland to Christchurch?

Background is theres a bike in Auckland I like (private seller) and its the right price, and it looks like a buy. Its not expensive ~$2500 so even if the condition isnt as described I havent bet the farm on it. (Early 80's Honda VF750).

Issue is that I wont have a spare weekend for ages to go ooop north to pickup the bike (though it wouldnt be a bad trip :( ) so figured freight might be the answer.

Any pointers?

theres a crowd specialises in bike transport.cant remember their darn name .
but just a point --VF750--Id be getting a dorkland KBer to check it out before shellin out moolah

I sold my bike last week to a guy in Christchurch. He came up to picton on the back of a mates bike, and I just shipped it across the strait for $50.

Thanks to all who responded, especially Lou. I have spoken to Biketranz and they will do nicely.

As to the bike itself, all that pre purchase angst has (sort of) been dealt with. And like I say, at $2500 all up regd and WOF and delivered to my door, I can wreck it out and recover most of my dosh if I need to....

Shit, now I just have to make the call.

Oops...am a bit late on this. CycleMove are the guys who I used to get bike from Hamilton to Wellington ($168inc). Their number is 0274226568 and they were great. Could we have these details on a sticky somewhere perhaps? Theirs and BikeTrans's's's' (get confused about apostrophes at ends of wordssss')
