Was going through the photo box.
This is the ride we were on almost 25 years ago.
The bottom half of Australia - West to East.
You may notice some difference in the topography compared to local conditions.

You would think so...
Never been to Ausi but looks a bit like southern Arizona and New Mexico. Hot, dry, nothing to look at for miles... All in all very boring. Good for finding the max speed for your bike though...

yep - If/when i go back it's a Road King for me. These pics are the 'dead heart' - the east and west coast are more fertile and hilly and Tassie is New Zealand like terrain

would you recommend a 3/4 or 1/2 loop of Aussy as a grand tour? or will I be bored to death? just something I am thinking of doing in the future.

Have you done the south island?
Touring Oz is a wonderful thing to do - you become a master of great distances - 1000km becomes 'not too far to go'.
It's great if you are into 'nothingness' too, cause there is plenty of that.
I'm glad I did it, and would tell anyone to do it, but once across the Nullabor was enough.

Think for a moment on how much more you can appreciate NZs roads, having done that tour of Aussie.

Piss off - it's a terrible photo - the people in the background blend in to my jacket and make me look like I did before I lost 45kgs. And I had a fleecy track suit on under the leathers.
I was built like you when i was your age, a bit taller and narrower - and over the next 20 years this happend.
's called growin' up pal. :motu:

I suddenly fear the future..... Exspecially since you said you were skinnier than me... Does that mean I'm gonna be bigger than you are now in 20 years?? Oh the horror, THE HORROR!!!
On the plus side that means I'll have a good and proper beer gut to ride choppers with.

Nice.
Far Western NSW - En Route to Bourke. Seriously fucking *NOWHERE*. Worked 351cu in. Phase 3 Falcon (like the Mad Max car) - hours at 160mph.
Couldn't do it at night out there - too many 'roos.

Interstate 8 in so-cal just after the Imperial Sand Dunes on a 1100 Virago. At 2:00 in the morning in summer. Good stuff if you just want to go full speed and hear the roar of a deep throughty V-twin. They say speed is checked by air but unless they are using SR-71s I doubt it. Never seen any kind of aircraft over that area.
