If he is stood down as a Munster the Nats majority stays as is. No change
If he gets arseholed out of Parliament then maybe a minority gubblemunt. No change.
If he gets arseholed out of Parliament and Nats go "Fuck it, early election) then either:
They get arseholed and we get a David Shearer led coalition of the Commies and the disaffected and Winston Peters as kingmaker; or
They get arseholed, and that lunatic fucking Christian fucktard gets (according to I think Rod Oram) over the 5% so instead of the Nats and arsehole banks we get the Nats and a stone age bunch of loony tunes.
Awesome.
Are we seeing the problem?
The problem is politicians.

Who fucking cares.
They are all just as bad as each other. It would make no real day to day difference to me, but in to days economy who do you want to ran the country, someone that just gives the money away or some one that saves some?
On saying that I think it is shit that the Nats have changed the Kiwisaver.

What we're seeing is a media beatup.
The two main charges are:
Dodgy return on donations after running for Auckland Mayor. Not a good look, but nothing to do with his position as an MP unless he gets convicted. As the rules around Local Body Elections are much easier than Parliamentary ones, not a likely outcome.
Forgot to include Gift Basket on Parliamentary Gift Register. Also not a good look, considering who it come from, but he has now ammended the return. Last year seven MP's did the same thing by ammended gift returns after the due date. No biggie - worst that can happen (but unlikely) is a Privileges Committee hearing which can suspend him from the house for up to three months.

By-election in Epsom, Nats win it by a country mile and gain an extra seat at ACT's expense so JK only has a tricky period when JB's vote is missing to negotiate.

I might be wrong but as the NZ parliment is normally 120 seats but currently 121 seats due to ACT winning 1 seat but not enough Party seats to warrant a seat the cause of the overhang. Should National win the by election they would gain 1 electorate seat but lose a list seat leaving their numbers the same but reducing Parliment to the normal 120 seats.

MMP is the biggest issue. But yea numbers aren't in our favour either, we have one of, if not the highest per capita.
In terms of ditching Banks, if it is going to happen it will be AFTER the budget is released as he needs that vote to keep a confidence & supply agreement.
JK or David Shearer? Not a hard decision after seeing Shearer's resume, the guy is practically related to mother Theresa lol.

its at 121 because of Hone and Banks (both of them together did not make enough to have 2 extra), so if the by election was held it is just to replace the Epsom seat, which we all know National will win,
Kim Dotcom is like a dog with a bone at the moment with Banks, very pissed off he did not get want he wanted for his money, much like Owen Glen was after Winston failed to back up what was promised to him

Banks was actually pretty good as Mayor I thought, just a little smug & rubs a few too many up the wrong way. Remember he did get voted back in after the Cereal king fell flat on his face!

Bit like organised crime, there's always another one just as useless to take the vacancy... although unlike organised crime, they're not likely to be that organised :innocent:

Interestingly, one of only two mayors to regain office after being defeated, along with Sir Dove-Myer Robinson.

The proportionality rules apply for the General Election only, not by-elections. Even if a current Nat list MP is elected in Epsom, the next on the list comes in to replace them.
