How much did it set you back? I doubt I'll be trading my pilot powers in as they're the nicest tyre I've ever had. But the Shinko looks great:cool:

Established in 1946, the Shinko Group began as a manufacturer of bicycle tires and tubes in Osaka, Japan that today has become a burgeoning manufacture of rubber products.
In 1998 the Shinko Group purchased the motorcycle tire technology and molds from Yokohama Rubber Co., and began production of these products under the Shinko Tire brand. With manufacturing based in South Korea and design based in Japan, the company has seamlessly combined Japanese engineering and design principles with South Korean production and quality control standards. Today Shinko Tires produces approximately 200,000 motorcycle tires per month.

Patrick settle down mate and whatever you do don't challenge him to a race for ownership papers because that won't end well.

Perhaps not, but I'm telling you they do the job.
I did a product review not long after they hit the shelves, it's on here in teh product review section.
They give unbelievable feedback, and stick bloody well.
And anyone is welcome to come for a hoon to see what sorta pace I get along at.

Hey we are talking about shitcos here??
A couple of years ago I got balled out for suggesting they were a good tyre
Got laughed off of a thread for suggesting they were more than capable of keeping you on the road
Bugger me, how perceptions change over time....or have the goods discussed improved in quality

I am only familiar with the type the OP is about. I have no experience with any other Shinkos, and will reserve judgement till I have unless someone I trust to actually test a tyre has an opinion.

I have a 705 dual porpoise on the back of the TDM. The only thing I have sacrificed is the ability to scrape my foot rests, more due to a sense of self preservation than any lack of grip.
A Gadgy I know with a Honda 900 which is his daily hack swears by Shinko's and uses every last millimeter.
The big plus for me with the dual sports is I can get a pair fitted cheaper than a big name sport/tourer rear tire on the shelf which is fooked in 5000km. So yeah, no, yeah. I like.

Am new to these radial tires damm they feel heaps better than old cross plys
Thanks for that yeah the PIRELLI strada did feel nice tire , all money spent fixing this bike
And its history being crashed am riding very carefully last thing want do is crash it .
SO tip toe around corners well size the bike not sort bike i flick around in corners more like
Just let it self go around never seem lean it very far
But seem s to have lots grip even at the front so am happy, i might still replace the front with pirelli strada

They're like any brand, some are excellent and some bad.
I've got a Shinko I took off my 600, it was good, but I got a set of Pilot Powers, which look pretty
I had a Shinko that I could get to spin up in 3rd in the wet on my CB400 though

Yeah, I thought crossplies were better, they are certainly cheaper.
Have the radials improved over time?
I like crossplies on account of the price.

I'm giving the Shinko 005's a crack. New Bits4Bikes account gets $25 off the front tyre - free delivery. Then order the rear separately and get 15% off that with their Sept deal - free delivery again. So full set at $300 delivered - makes them worth a try surely!
