View Full Version : Help with cam chain install on old VT500 fe?

Hi i taken the heads of 1998 honda vt 500 replaced the head gaskets having nightmaresish time

Trying to fit the chain chain sprockets on to the cams i can do with cam tensions out but with them installed

No can do i got get ridge of cam sprockets to get up and on to ridge of the cams

Also through rushing i magaed to snap off part the cam that sprocket bolts trough aghhh i just want get it toghter and get it

running then i replace the front cam or get the orginal welded ?

please any help be great cant work out whats going wrong here

Buy a workshop manual. Worth their weight in blood and lost skin. Not to mention time wasted picking things up after you've chucked them about in anger/frustration ...

If you're in a rush ... you pay people to do it ... that know what they're doing.

yep know what you mean lost bit skin already i got book for already but not as good haynes its cramer

i just have to plod along never had this much trouble with honda singles . what l meant to say was sau

I did up front cam and didint check was not lined up and it caught when tryed turn the engine over on the coffee table

Got some one phone me up damm while was working on it, if had money for paying mecanic , i whould just buy new bike.

Thats reason i fix my own old ones

yes thanks buddy hoping you say that hehe wasint targeting you honest hehe oh okay that be okay.

just given up smokes again so bit cranky hehe and bike not helping be glad to get it going

Then can sort out the petrol tank and brakes , front disc looks crap i might be able to swap the vt 250 cast iron disc its inclosed like

The vt 500 one it looks knacked groved and hideous and thats what i need to get r vined agghhh typical part you need the most, is farked one.
