Hi Eddie, your website says that there are no petrol stops on the ride until after Klondyke Road, But actually there is 91 petrol available at the port waikato general store.:scooter::scooter::scooter:

I don't even run my lawn mower on that shit

Yep, the KTM does not particularly like it .
But its a hell of a lot better that pushing.

Is is reliably available?

Has never been a problem in the past.

With the weather forcast being for showers on sunday, I assume that the ride will still go ahead ???

Anyone interested in a ride on Sunday.:blank:
It has been nearly 2 years since I have riden Taumatamarie and Pomarangi Roads.

So I was thinking of a 300 km Loop out to Awakino and back with lunch at Piopio on the way.

Start and finish in pirongia with a total of around 300 kms for the total loop taking in a mixture of fast and twisty gravel roads and finishing with a lap
around the side of Mt Pirongia.

Would plan to leave Pirongia at around 10.00 am.

Actually there is a East side to the Waikato....
There are some great roads over this way. The thing is, a hour ride to get to a meeting place that is convenient to the few, I am happy to ride
on roads less paved between here and tracks south...:)
Ummm. Leslie, Cecil?
Galaxy?
Around the back of Reporoa for instance.....

True......

I am giving up riding....altogether!
The DR800, R100GS PD and the aprilia Tuareg are on the market. Plus, I have all the adv tyres, spares, kit and ka-boodle to list...
Had enough...full stop, the end!
As soon as I have the dosh to list, I will put 'em all on Trade Me. So pass the word....

May be why I thought you were giving it up...

It Isnt really the same old same old for me Mark as I havent been out on some of those roads to awakino for 2 years now.

I know there are some good roads over the east side as well, But there is too much tarseal to link them all up.
Im afraid that west is best :laugh::laugh:

But Organize a ride over your way and I will be there if i can.

Missed your text by half an Hour Dino, decided on a shorter loop to Waitomo and round Mt Pirongia.

Out with the `Naki Boys ` next weekend for the Cape To Cape, so will clock up plenty of Km`s then

Good bit of literature there and that was obviously a popular name back then.

Tell you what when I get back from PNG I'll pretend I'm from down there and come for a ride, Might let you go in front though as not sure if the KLR is up to hunting down your New 690R (in fact I'm sure its not)

Still can see the Stone chips on the 950 from your last bike

Later in summer when the tracks are a bit more Adv bike friendly I'll line up a weekend out at our block at Reporoa. Pretty easy to work out a scenic route over from the West side, lap of the 4x4 track, stay at hut, shoot clays, drink beers. Could even loop out around Rerewhakaaitu-Rotoma on the Sunday, late lunch at my place or Okere falls...

Cheers

Maybe somewhere different :blank:

Got a few tracks that I am keen to check out down Tokoroa way, but am open to anything really if someone wants to get out.

Have a 2/3 worn rear knobbly that I need to wear out and change in the next few weeks before I go to Bike Week :niceone:.

I'm still here and still just as keen. I just broke the KTM a couple of years ago (wasn't a get off!) and haven't gotten around to stripping it right down for complete rebuild and forking out for a new clutch basket. Got a GSX1100 to get around on in early 2015 but looking to sell it now and sort the 990, might even get a smaller road /enduro bike but hard to think about parting with the KTM. At least with all the alloy in it it won't rust!! Also been very tied up helping partner look after her elderly father after stroke etc... now that's full time hard yakka!

I haven't seen Dino in much too long, think he's been busy teaching the young fella some bush skills.

See you guys out there sometime one day!

Cheers

Sadly I let mine go, it was a lot of fun for 4 or so years, Run a KLR most of the time now as just as comfy on the road and quite a bit lighter for Sand work etc, I modded it a bit and think its every bit as fast on the gravel through I have to give it death :shifty:

Yep light is good. Years back, I had a 600 and my mate a 650. They both got along well. Same problem though: get a bike to go further, go further and further, find should have brought an even lighter one. Then end up with a trials bike.
