Hello all, I am exploring the option of buying a second-hand hornet.. especially since Auckland is out of stock!
I don't want a bike that has been dropped/damaged! Looking for a well looked after 2008-2012 bike :)
Price $8,000-9,000 ono
Cheers.
EDIT: Black only <--- should have mentioned that earlier.

You tried that site called TradeMe: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/auction-412917172.htm
Otherwise, have you considered CB900? Older, but reliable.
Edit: Colour is always helpful aye?

Sarcasm gets you no where mate, I check Trademe everyday... the last thing I want is people linking me trademe auctions.
I am particularly after a black model... I don't want the colour of baby-milk vomit mixed with blood on my bike for me to stare at every day.

I'm just worried that he may not be ready for the full HONDA experience yet, after all you meet the nicest people on a honda ...............

Shocking discovery, the CB600 Hornets are no longer being imported at the $12k price. Honda has apparently upped it to $16,000. Pure bollocks.
...so now there is only the option of a NC700S (Commuter) or a NC700X (Adventure) if someone wants a new naked Honda at the same price-range.

Shit the bed! I've check their website and you are right. Not a tasty looking naked to be seen (just those 700 things ..... not my cuppa).
What happened to the CB1000r?
Honda need to get their shit sorted. They have the ultra sports bikes but the rest are kind of ......... blandish. They need to start innovating again and bring some exciting designs to the market to get sales.
It may be worth ringing around the honda dealers - you might pick up a 600 Hornet at a deal if it has been sittign on the floor for a while.

Out of the 15 bikes I've owned, the Hornet 600 was the worst ( I hated the damn thing ). Just my 2 cents.

Come on now, we alll know that 2cents doesn't buy you anything anymore (unless you're with 2º) so give us some of your valuable experience! What made you hate it so? What would you ride in its place?

I rode a hornet250, then went to a hornet 600, which was good and tame and was able to ride 2up, but not much in the way of performance. I sold it 4years ago and bought a 2005 Buell XB9SX...what a bike. The difference was huge! So much more fun on corners, uniquely sharp looks, and great G center. The bike growls into corners on NZ roads like its in heaven and is still very economical for a 984cc. And its been year after year of childish grins on the roads
Anyhow, I'm selling this great bike to get a bigger, slower touring Buell (Ulysses, already purchased). I've got it for sale here and also on TM. Will let it go for $7800 with a new wof.
As for the 600 Hornet, it is under the 600cc threshold for rego, BUT that savings is small and you pay for it with quiet performance. That said, the bike didn't often need anything but to be ridden (much like the Buell). I had a scorpion exhaust, but the engine was still lackluster. I don't mind Honda nakeds...but ride a Buell and you will never want a honda naked again.
Best of luck,
J

I am currently riding a Bandit 1200 2006 but am considering a change, I am impressed with what I have seen and researched on the internet about the Hornet cb600 (2008-10), I know the bikes are chalk and cheese but I will test ride a Hornet shortly and guess that will sort my decision. Has anyone out there gone from a bigger bike down to a cb600 and how do you like it? cheers, Steve.

great G center.
Is that something like a G spot? That could make it hard to remain focussed on riding. Or could just make it hard?
The model range available here is nothing to do with Honda, it's BlueWing the importers. Although maybe they shouldn't be described as imprters because they don't actually import much, apart from farm bikes.
There has been a new Hornet out for must be nearly three years now(?), the bargain price ones were the old model. Both the Hornet and the Predator (hate that name) are Italian designed and built.
All the exporters seems to be complaining about the high dollar, but BlueWing seem to be oblivious to any advantage that situation might provide to an importer.
