Not so John, what i've heard from CK vets are that everyone meets Fri, all the stupid shit goes down on Sat and pretty much everyone clears off early Sun morning, Sooooooo what i'm thinking is heading down Friday, hanging Sat, then either leaving for feilding Sat night or gapping it early Sunday morning to the track, it'd be less than 2 hours ride to Manfeild.

I'll be going, ( 'er indoors is having a girls' weekend ) and as one of the more mature members of the bike riding fraternity I will be taking it upon myself to restore order and prevent mayhem. Then again I might take advantage of the fact that no one will know who I am and have a bit of fun. :devil2: Anyone else going up from palmy and environs? I am thinking of leaving at sparrow's fart on saturday :ride:

Have not made up our minds if going or not this year, will be first one in 18 years we will have missed if we dont go.
Is there anyone from Wgtn going up on small bikes?? (under 250 ), Friday nite always used to be the best nite for the parties, camping amongst the trees is good, RGV150 would be like a sports bike compared to my CT110 and thats been ridden to Gisborne & back & done the coast to coast, Sparky will you remember your sleeping bag??, last year was not cold - dont know where it was -5 but it wasnt at the Cold Kiwi, I'm not a big hairy biker and my wife was there - no velcro involved, You can enter at the gate!, better to pre enter, follow signs from Waiouru ( south of Bombays ) - other Aucklanders have found it.
Will probably see you there & Sparky your Bro in Brisbane says you will shout me a beer.

After all the official stuff ended on the sat, i spent the rest of the night drinkin Stones and helping the Scooter En' Motion crew burnout (literally the owner lit his tyre on fire while i did the burnout for him) the backs of some vespas.

How long have you got to listen to my reasons??!!!

Seriously though, give it a go. The worst scenario is when it's wet. I understand that they're not as cold as they were in the old days - maybe partly to do with the new site?

Believe it or not, I've done seven (7) in the past when I was young and silly! All at the old site except for one time when they used a site by the airstrip. Anyone remember that?

One time it started snowing on the Friday night just as we were arriving. They closed the road later than night, and it just kept snowing. Absolute magic to wake up to tents/bikes covered in snow.

Just wondering if anyone has plans to watch/listen to the AB's game on the saturday night? thinking of a taxi into the local pub for the game?

I could be up for that.
Otherwise I am putting my faith in the video recorder

I will be in Ohakune with the cage for a weekends skiing. I could come pick a car load of you bums up and run you into ohakune if ya want. However I will not be driving you anywhere after the game!

Pinched another day from my rapidly dwindling leave balance so will head up to the Cold Kiwi Friday afternoon ( after 3 hours on a ride on mower doing my Saturday jobs to keep "she who lets me ride" happy :violin: ). Anyone else heading up from the southern end of the island in the early afternoon on Friday?I'd be keen on twaddling up Friday arvo, depending how the ear is feeling. Just got to remember to take me meds :dodge:

Will try my best.
Look for my Red/blk/Wht R1, and a boring looking silver gixer.

Heard today that they have metal'ed the driveway in. Last year was a complete mud bog! Hopfully its better than that, as ill have a fully loaded bike and a pillion.

sweet as mate...

will be heaps better that they have metalled the road. was getting worried that it was going to be hard going, still pulling the mud out of my radiator from last years experiance. however i still reckon it would be best to be there as early as possible cause it wont take long for the road to get messed up

I'll keep a lookout for you. Another bunch is leaving from Caltex Rimutaka at 0900 up the back way to Hastings, where the boys go over the Gentle Annie to Taihape while the girls carry on to Napier and over the Napier-Taupo Rd. We all meet up in Taupo for the night then down to rally on Saturday.
(boys bikes - F650/Pegaso/GS Suzi, etc) have a higher ratio of steel to plastic than girls bikes - R1/SV1000/Firestorm, etc)

hmmm must be the colder spark plug i put in. try again and again for 20mins and find myself halfway down the road. fuck I hope its not a bung spark or something taking the tank off is hard enough not to mention when its dark. get back and realise it could be the air filter.

pull the whole thing out and try start it. after a couple goes it Ring a ding ding dings to life. turns out it was still to oily to work. wringed it out good while the engine was running and put it back in....
Vrrmmmumumum meeeehhhhhhh.....
