That thread about most popular bikes got me thinking, everyone has a different definition of what the perfect bike is, even though you're all wrong if you disagree with me.

So KB, what is the best bike and why?

Nice rear end, tidy headlights, small fairing and must not run on too much alcohol.....

Lots of town bikes around just worth finding one that has not been raced too hard.:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Put simply, the one that you want to go riding on, that you never want to let go of and that all the little things that go wrong with it don't matter in the grand scheme of things when you look/sit/ride it

So by that logic the one I'm riding this month is perfect for me??:innocent:

I've got one of those, except for "all the little things that go wrong". They must have forgotten to install those. I've had it 8 years, and it's the first time in the 38 years I've been riding that I haven't felt like even looking at other bikes, let alone test-riding one. It's now up to 61,000 miles (~100,000km), still going well, and completely stock standard. :shifty: Of course, although nothing's gone wrong, I've improved some of the bits Honda mistakenly took out of the budget bin, like suspension, horns, shifter, wiring, lights, heated grips, airfilter, fuel mapping, tyre valves, indicators, seat, exhaust, fusebox, accessory plug, hugger, wheel nuts, tank guard, packrack, footpeg brackets, and soon the front disks.

Oh. You were actually talking a real bike weren't you? Thought you may have been continuing with the 'sub-theme' of the thread.

There simply isn't one. Some tools are better for the job at hand than others.
Perfect for a track day is crap on a muddy trail. etc etc.

I have 3 bikes, and the best one depends on where and why I'm riding.

Of course I could do with more, there are still times that I don't have the bike that suits my mood.

Best bike?

The one you that suits you best and you love it.

As long as it's not a Honda, as they're gay...

Hey casper, that's an ugly dinosaur... you should ride the hot chick!

The popularity of buckets might help explain the logic .... or not. :innocent:

That's a tough question. and it will all depend on who you ask. Toni Bou will tell you it's the Montessa Honda, but Adam Raga will claim it's the Gas Gas. I would like to think it's my Suzuki GSX1250FA (TNAB), but there is no way I could ever take my Suzuki places that those guys thake their machines.

Then again I can ride my TNAB for 24 hours straight and cover over a thousand miles and they couldn't get that Montessa or that Gas Gas to do that.

So perhaps we should ask you how to measure that "best bike" you want to know about?

You are all talking bullshit. The best bike in the world is the Aprilia Tuono V4. And not because I own one. I own one because it is the best bike in the world.

Now we can close this thread.

The best bike? Two really ...

Utter rot. The Aprilla will not take me up the back of the Fraser basin for a spot of hunting, but a 30 year old Suzuki TS125 will. So I claim that TS 125 is far superior to your Aprilla, but even then it isn't the best bike.

My top 3:
2012 Yamaha R1
2005 Kawasaki 636
2012 Kawasaki ZX10R

That's solely based on looks however, I've never actually ridden these..

The best bike is the bike that best suits you at that time.

Somebody on KB once told me that he had a better bike than me. He had a Speed Triple, I had a Hornet 919.
That was crap, I thought the S3 was a sawn off ugly looking bastard of a thing and I would have far rather had the Hornet.

So tastes change with time, or I got used to the look, and now I ride a Speed Triple mainly because I hadn't owned any three cyliinder bike previously.

Here's hoping I can fit all the bikes I want to own in before they decide that a mobility scooter would be more appropriate...

Both of them are - Red Wolf is a 1250 and The Dancer is a 650 ... "She's waiting for me in the parking lot ..."

That looks like a young Johnny Rea, and he rides a Honda. Don't think I'd call a man with his skills "Gay" though.:not:

...i have two orange ones...although they are not from the same factory they are the best bike in the world, unless we are out on the black one ...then that is the best one...sometimes i think the maroon one i have is the best one too...my wife probably thinks a maroon one would be the best, but wives can be very fickle and not understand things quite like you would want them to...some of us would know that and some of us have yet to learn that...i cant ever imagine a yellow bike that could lay claims to being the best bike ever in the whole universe but i have a friend with one and as he is such a big bloke and quite fearsome...if he suggested his yellow bike was the best one, then i would have to agree with him...blue ones are just dangerous i hear...

A GN250 with a DR600 motor would probably be it for me.
Or a Honda, I get lots of pretty boys on them.

It's ok, they both work at Caltex Rimutaka. Any smart remarks from riders entering the C1KC will result in tyres being let down...
