My mini foxy has the heart of a lion and reckons he is 6 feet tall, even tried to take on an uncut male mastiff the other day cos it was sniffing my female sharpei :eek5:

Had to rescue Don Quichote before he was made bite size brunch by the mastiff!

But yes, small dogs have heart and sometimes more spirit than you can shake a Donky Kong at.

They just have too much energy, I can't stand little yappy bouncy dogs, give me a mellow old lab any day.

We've recently got a doglet at home, tis very funny when it runs to the front door barking when someone comes in, I guess it thinks it's scary.

As you said it has energy to burn, spends ages trying to play with our cat who at 14 years old is totally disinterested in the annoying little dog, bloody entertaining to watch and we're waiting to see what happens when the cat actually connects with one of her swings.

They're a delicacy in China. I'm sure you could find some recipes with Google.

:banana: I love me a feisty mini pooch, not keen on handbag dogs, though. I always thought the wee fluffs were bolshy, snappy menaces to fingers but two Lhasa Apso's locally love to play WWF with my 25kg Bull Terrier and they are fantastic.

If anybody wants a pocket terror look at Patterdales, built like minature Staffies & more go than the energiser bunny. Never a dull moment and an end to rat traps.

Thanks for sharing, I'm dog daft.

Yep foxies...I love em!!!! My little guy is a farken classic foxy! he lined up a German shep the other week and got pissed off when I picked him up and walked off with him as he was being "the man" and being staunch !
Great dogs, I wouldn't have any thing else (but you need patience as they are like they are a hayabusa on steroids!)

We have a shepherd and a bichon. Total contrast. The bichon uses Sam as a pillow.

I raised our little guy with hand signals and he's the easiest dog I've ever trained. Such intelligence, loyalty, and obedience!
I trained him then gave him to my son and he has just been the best thing for my boy.
When my son goes away on holiday, the dog just lies in his bed and refuses to eat for a couple of days. Then at 3pm, he goes and parks himself on the sofa to watch out the window and keep an eye on whether his young master is coming home.

That's why I love terrors. You always get 110%. The little buggers are smart too, they look you straight in the eye & you can't hide nothin from them.

Archie, the Cairn Terrier comes in my shop every day to say hello, owner dragged behind. He's besties with my Bull Terrier. Fantastic wee dog, great personality, he actually smiles when he comes in. Lifts his top lip to show the teeth. Proper dog too, he hates Alsatians & goes ballistic when he sees one.
Cairns & Westie's are still being bred as working earth dogs...........ratters. Great family dogs, smart & loyal. Relatively low maintenance & little heart breakers.

Cheers, they sound ok eh,cat might be a problem (very staunch cat) at 1st but they would sort it out.Our Border Collie and the cat get on great so hopefully something his own size wont bother him to much. Will look into it.

Och, if you get the dog as a pup & lay down the law from day one it will fine. My pup lives with cats & just wants to play, admittedly she rules the roost but the cats are happy.
A big thing to remember is that if you encourage the dog to chase vermin, it solidify s the instinct in it & you can't switch them off. I've actively deterred my dog from possum & rat control & have no problems. A friend with Terriers has encouraged them to hunt vermin. He gets woken up often with his dogs going nuts because of a possum. The only way he can get some peace is to get out of bed & shoot it.

Wee Archie holds his own on the beach with all kinds of dogs, sometimes a melee of 15 or more. A real character.
