I followed this thread for a while at the beginning but haven't read the whole thing. As for the "black spot" comment, the Normanby overpass has been a political hot potato locally for quite a while now. Some, including myself, consider that a change of direction accompanied by a change in gradient should not pose an insurmountable problem and that the real issue is crap driving. The yokels though become incensed at this suggestion.

While walking to the local pub for dinner on Sunday I note that work has started on the new Waiwhakaiho bridge so I guess the Normanby overbridge will continue to contribute to our hospital occupancy rate for some time to come.

Herewith what should be the final official word on the Christmas Toy Run fatalities:

The Normanby overbridge had nothing to do with this particular accident, but otherwise I agree with you.

4 months sitting at home watching TV and a fine he will probably never pay seems a bit light considering the damage this peckerhead has done.

Like this bit?

You are referring to my own accident, no doubt, where I was commended for being able to avoid a very serious crash involving several other cars?

The sentence is in line with the wet bus ticket approach in this country. We don't know the full situation though so it is not easy to make comment on.

Maybe so. But from what has been reported this dick who flattened several people, who were apparently doing stuff all wrong, was not paying attention, has a long list of driving offences and $4000 of outstanding driving fines. I am not sure what else there is worth knowing about this incident. That lot alone makes it very easy for me to comment.

There's too much of this happenning, for sure and something needs to get the message across.

A shame he didn't meet a KW instead of the bikes...apart from upsetting the KW driver it would be a better outcome.

I guess being wheelchair bound is probably more punishment than the "wet lettuce on the wrist" from the courts.

(Maybe) better than being dead. It is the least he deserves.
