BT dial up doesn't support ipv6

apperently google wont talk to an ipv4.

wtf is up with that bullshit? i'm going to get cranky at nokia for removing functionality in what is *supposedly* an upgraded model (my last TWO nokias supported network access over BT and they're both >2 y/o)

also.. what's the solution. i dislike google and y/t etc anyway, but they do come in handy.

i h4xor3d this problem last time by using proxies. this is not ideal. (particularly with as many data mining chinses cunts as there are)

Besides, most "smart phones" now make themselves a wireless access point which you then connect to with the wireless connectivity of the other device (ie, you connect your tablet/laptop via your phones wireless hotspot). This I believe is available on both win7 and 8 phones, also standard on android phones and I believe on IOS (i-devices although, since i wont waste money on apple products I do not know for sure)

ph doesn't WLAN as far as i can see although it does have WAP pointers, that seem to go back to packetdata internet AP. :eek:

nokia might have lost me business. highly disappointing. worse, since the previous phones (c2, ie) support it. fucking stupid.

it identifies over BT as a smartphone :facepalm:

plus it supports multitasking, comes preloaded with facebook and heaps of other crap. GPS, camera, vido calling etc... so yeah. not touch screen. but smart phone.

anyway.

nokia c5-00.2 for sale. 220$ for KBers, then it's on TM.

- Configure Bluetooth connection
- Go to the menu - select "Modem/Internet connection"
- Connect

Or you can fire up hyper-terminal via the BT serial link and type something like AT#600 or something (its been a few years since I dealt with non-wifi nokia). I used to just create a modem connection that used BT to connect to my old 6120c - if you contact tech-support they should be able to help you out with setting up a modem connection with the phone (via bluetooth).

tried all that. the number is *99# btw.
that creates a dial up BT connection. which i can create by clicking "create dial up connection" without wasting 80MB of HDD space on nokia ovi BS.

it also seems to drop out heaps, and has the aforementioned limitation of NOT SUPPORTING IPV6.
whereas the network access point connection is reasonably stable, works all over the internet. (although. without ipv6 it doesn't load google's ad server or any of that other BS which i otherwise have to send to black proxy holes...)

it just fucks me off that they'd REMOVE functionality on a NEWER model. so i'm back to the c2 and looking to sell the c5. (despite fractionally slower 3g)
