A formal warning, complete with letter, does it go onto you record? I presume it is like a charge,I just dont have to go to court? Cheers, darren.:Punk::Punk:

If it's not a "conviction" it's not likely to show up anywhere of any real importance.

But you could just ask the pigs,,,it's not as if they would lie to you aye:laugh:

Stays on your record for ever. I was silly enough to get one at 14 without even knowing, found out about it in my twenties when applying for a job.

Cops I dealt with in this matter have all been straight up and decent. No problems with them, just asking if it will stay on my record. :Punk:

Dunno weather or not I would trust this community to not jump to all sorts of fucked up conclusions. As for being a serious charge, in my mind it is one I have worked really hard to avoid all my life, and I feel it was unjust, but it is the law. So, in a way it is the most serious charge I have ever had, even though the punishment is nil.

... Hey, that's why we're here... to help n all that, not to judge :shifty:. Oh you very naughty boy and as ya say it can't be all that bad given the punishment. Anyway, now that you've failed to avoid it, you may as well get the other shit you've been avoiding out of the way

I got one for going up the hill in Albany too fast

Way it was described to me is that it is recorded. If they bust you again and would normally just give you a Formal warning or a lesser penalty for the offence...but you already have one....then they go all Fatt Max on yo arse.

So from now on just run. :-P

It does say something in the letter about this charge could be used against me at a later date, if I commit another offence. In my mind I commited no offence, but the law says I did. So therefore I am guilty, legaly, anyway. It,s fuckin doin my head in this one I tell ya.

define 'on your record'?

The police tend to hold onto various pieces of information for use by themselves only.

If you go and apply for a new job, and they request that you allow them to do a police check - it is not likely that the warning will show up in said police check - on the other hand, next time you have an interaction with the police in person, and they run your name through the radio to comms and ask for a background on the spot - the warning will probably e mentioned.

The police effectively hold more than one 'record' of you - info that they keep for themselves,a nd that which gets displayed on your 'oficial record' - the one that employers might ask to see.

Someone with contrary evodence please feel free to correct me if I am wrong!

For a start ... don't stress it. A formal warning is better than a formal charge.

The thing is ... it is not proof any offence had occurred. (innocent until proven ... etc) and it may be .... they aren't sure they have enough evidence to make it stick in a court of law. But shows as a record you were warned for the alleged offence. Should you commit any similar offence in future ... it may come back to haunt you.

If this is the case ... and depending on the case circumstances ... a lawyer may get it's importance removed/reduced in any new case. (They cost ... but you do need one then)

I guess the one any potential employer may see, I am aware that the police do hold more info on known persons than what an old charge sheet would tell them, flags for family violence ect.....
So I guess the question should of been...Will a formal warning show up on an employment check.
