View Full Version : Barefoot biker dude?

So I've seen this guy for ages riding a 1ltr touring/sports bike around Wanga's. Bare feet, shorts, t-shirt. Its always stood out enough for me to do a bit of a double take in terms of safety, think "fuck thaaaat...." and then go about my day. So I'm in my car today and he lane splits, nudges in front of me and I'm now following the bike. I couldn't give two shits if someone chooses not to gear-up but I found it really distracting with this guy in front of me. Not in a homo way or anything...but he did look pretty sweet all sun tanned with his arms tensed...gripping the bars.....and stuff.
Anyway, I found myself adjusting my driving style to stay clear of this dude.....almost as if I was being extra safe to make up for this guy giving off a visual cue that he didn't give a shit about being safe himself. So what I'm thinking is.....if other people on the road behave like me and are super careful towards a biker in bare feet, shorts and a t-shirt maybe this dudes onto something? Maybe that's safer than being atgatt cos if you fall off with your gear on then you'll probably be okay so I'll just drive normally. Just sayin.

The therory is right, but since you ride a motorbike, you are more tuned into looking out for them. The general public in cages couldnt care less if you had steel armor on or but naked, they would still hunt you down and run you off the road, or so it feels that way anyway.
Add:
Actually just remmeber about the bare foot native in kaitaia. Riding a Harley, bear foot, shorts singlet and helmet on his arm... right in the main streets of kaitaia. Went up and down a few times. Classic line came out of some posh looking lady, "only in kaitaia."

I'd agree with that, people stay well clear of me on the footpaths.

That's just daft. He was on a motorbike with a helmet on and I was in a car about 20 feet behind him. How the hell could I ask him for his number? Seriously...how could I do that? Is there a special signal or something? Just askin

It's easy mate, you hold your hand up to your mouth like you're smokin' a huge fat cigar and wink at him. He'll know. Trust me, I had many Hondas.

Bare feet? That's just dangerous. I always put my jandals on before heading out on the road.

You're not the first one to think something similar. Check this out (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/09/060911102200.htm).
“We know from research that many drivers see cyclists as a separate subculture, to which they don’t belong,” said Dr Walker.
“As a result they hold stereotyped ideas about cyclists, often judging all riders by the yardstick of the lycra-clad street-warrior.
“This may lead drivers to believe cyclists with helmets are more serious, experienced and predictable than those without.
“The idea that helmeted cyclists are more experienced and less likely to do something unexpected would explain why drivers leave less space when passing.

Damn....here I was just joking and there's actually some science behind my observation. Scary.

In Asian and South American countries, most motorcyclists wear flip flops which is not much better than riding bare foot. The end result in a crash needs no explanation.

Well if its a Harley no worries. They proven to convert petrol into noise without that side effect called performance.
Hey most injuries are knee down. Like that other "guy" here in Wangas with his blackbird barefoot and shorts and his bike jacket. Fair enough only 50km/h here I can't even clean off the chicken strips off tyres and its over 28 degrees. Open road is different. Gonna slide a lot further and collect road rash. If you have a fat ass you gonna roast a lot if you don't keep swapping butt cheeks.

 Someone needs a hug... What's wrong with being a homosexual mate?
There's nothing wrong with queer music, and some of those artists are very talented.

There is something wrong with queer music. When the music is queer. When the artist is queer the results vary.
Justin Beiber makes queer music, is straight.
Freddie Mercury makes godlike music, is gay.
Justin beibers fanbase = homosexuals and 13 year old girls.
Freddie Mercurys fanbase = Every person with a decent taste in music.

Not sure where the threads going....but... another arguement will ensue I'm sure, as since I have been wearing an openface helmet of late I have noticed a lot more drivers actually looking me in the face & not past me at intersections. Sure I'm not the prettiest guy out there but I reckon there is some kind of subconcious facial recognition thing vs helmet going on there.
Or I could be wrong...

Oh yes? where do new one's come from then? They shoot out of a womans vag, same place as all the others? Presumably labouring them with something like is natures way of gently trying to dissuade further entries into the gene pool, for whatever reason, most likely nature has found their DNA unsuitable for reproduction. Kinda nice of it... nature could have been a prick about it and have them born without a heart or some other vital organ.

Shit, I thought he was some guy that nana'd around town and was too lazy to put boots on. Had no idea he didn't wear protective gear ever. Obviously I was taking the piss a bit with my OP. Seriously though, good on you for pushing atgatt from a club perspective.
