Congrats.

The first time I rode over the bridge I was pretty stoked.

Now you are a biker, the next step is the pilgrimage to the Puhoi Pub  for Sunday lunch. -Best wait till the weather fines up for that one though.

I've been to puhoi and a bit further. But not to a pub there. Nom nom nom.

the puhoi pub has been a calling for every biker north of wellington for years.

Last I called in on a ride there would have been around 50-60 bikes there - Mind you it was sunny and warm.

Did this thread die with the poor weather.

Riding alone at night is not so fun, but it's nice to find someone that rides at noob speed. :(

Agreed. Pretty much only time I get to ride is at night. And my mates go to fast for me.

You on the shore? I do the old 1, east coast road up to silverdale then puhoi and home on the motorway at night by myself at times. Big easy corners and over taking lanes where cars trapped behind me can overtake. Mixture of lit and dark.

I don't mind having company when I go. Most of the big kids would find it too boring I think. But I am in no way absolutely not a mentor just another noob happy to have noob speed company.

:Edit: just saw your location lol. Sorry. Doh!

Omg I'm the same. I really feel guilty!! I did a runner the other day from another rider the other day cause I feel so bad to hold them up.

Funnly enough he ended up helping me when my bike died.

Hmm how far from here to there? We could try and go half way? Eeeeek

Eeekkk is right!!! That's quite far for me to go alone for sure! If ur on north shore then it would be about 1 hour and a bit (depending how slow/fast we go) to get to each other! But maybe I could get my courage enough soon... Yea bike failure is what worries me most when I'm out haha

If in doubt...... Take a credit card!!! My bikes died on me on probably 20-40% of my further than the supermarket rides. If it dies again the next thing I'm learning is how to bump start- That skill seems kinda handy.

Shall we wait untill better weather? Just cause I do the rain does not mean I like it. It comes with that only having time to ride after work to get my road hours in and that happens to be at night.

It takes me 30min to get to Admore on a Sunday morning averaging 110-120kmh......that and a bit does not seem that far.. (Famous last words)

Mind you I do do that in the car while half asleep.

Umm, your bike shits itself between one and two times if you ride it five days a week? That is crap. If bump starting it works, is the problem that the battery goes dead? Or is it that it's a bloody 250 inline that needs winding over for ages before it starts?

Either way, get that shit fixed.

I mean my actual long rides not just pottering around.

It's been fixed now, has only needed the bump starting ince, I've just seen 2 other bikes have it done so figure that could be a useful thing to learn.

They will have it back sometime this week to fine tune the carbs (so I can have my itty bitty power back)
