For a total novice racer what would be the best bike to race on?
I have no dreams of being a world class road racer.
I'm an experienced road rider but this racing bit looks like fun.

depends what your budget is really.
if ya want turn it on and ride it racing then try production based bikes.
I reckon ATM ya best bet is a SV650 in F3

CBR/ZXR250 and race in the streetstock. Racing at 18,000rpm is incredible, and they aren't that fast so they would be a good place to start racing

A 1923 francis barnet would be good to see racing.

Go classic

Problem is that there is no SS250 class in Auckland...

Best bet is witha an oldschool 400 or a newer SV650 and race in F3...

Can't go wrong with that combo. Or if you feel competent enough, a oldish model 600 in the clubmans class.

If you're looking for the cheapest option then buckets might be an option. Can start out for next to nothing but can spend a bunch if wanted. Still very competative.

A nooby question. What generally causes a high-side ?? Watching the vid obviously they start with the bike getting out of line but if it is a slide that should end up in a low-side.
On my last ride down 22 (2 wks ago) I came flying (for me) around a corner & lost it both front & rear. First reaction "fuck - back off the throttle" immediately followed by " no that's wrong leave the power on'
The bike flicked up bloody viciously throwing me up, snaked around for a second then steadied & I dropped back down into a cornering position & carried on still wondering what the f--ks going on & trying to steady my sphincter muscle.

Look I was reading a break down of the forces involved ,,and it did me head in .... it was a comprehensive view ,,,so quite technical ..

Ill have a hunt round see if I can find it...and give it to you simply...even the best of the best ,,,,,rossi has sphinkter muscles that could crush cans ,,,you see him adjust them before the start of each race....and has difficulty in staying in that seat ...

I've high-sided once due to cold tyres on a cold track and it happens so fast there's not a lot to do about it. As fast as I could say one two after just touching the throttle I was up in the air looking down at the bike. My reaction times weren't fast enough to prevent the resulting broken collar bone

I've been flicked off once in a near high-side (the bike continued down the track without me) and almost 3 times now on the R6...best defence is good hot tyres and a steering dampener.
