View Full Version : ~600cc sports bike
Hello Kiwi Bikers!
After too many years of not having a bike I've decided it's time to buy two wheels again.
The perfect bike for me right now is a 2004/2005 R6 that's done around 30kms and is in reasonably good condition. Good condition means it needs to run well and have no major damage, stone chips and minor scrapes are fine.
For that bike I'm happy to pay up to $7k.
Life isn't perfect though so I'd also be happy to hear about similar bikes like a GSXR or CBR or anything really. Preferably 600, but hey, if you have a Daytona 675 you want to sell me for $5k then great!!
Thanks in advance!

Save $2500 and buy tigertim's R1.
Would you be interested in 2007 ZX10R?

Yeah I saw that! Was tempted... but don't want to get a litre bike just yet.
Need to ease back into it rather than jumping straight onto a bike with heaps of power that didn't cost me a lot!!!
Would you be interested in 2007 ZX10R?
Thanks, but as above, not ready for a proper big bike yet.

Harden up missus.

Fair comment!
Seriously though, if I went straight to 1000cc I'd either spend the next six months riding around too scared to properly give it any or I'd go 'hell yes' and ride it into the side of a bus after a week. Or both.

Might be time to have a think about where to go from here then son. If you think you are not ready to ride a litre sports bike, then you probably aren't ready for a 600 either.
It will kill you just as fast, yet just like a 1000 it will only do what you tell it to with your right wrist.

What bike have you had 4.5 years ago?
Like you, before I got this bike, I was off motorcycling for over 4 years.
Seven years ago I had an FZR 600 which I loved.
The 04/05 R6 is essentially a much newer version of that bike which is why it's my preference.
Newer model R6s have higher seat height and slightly more aggressive riding position which I don't like so much. They are also more expensive! $7k is pretty much what I have to spend on a bike as I still need $500 for a helmet and whatever it is for jacket and gloves.

Maybe I can make you a deal. Send me a PM if interested. You can come and have a look if you want.

Thanks, I'll look up ZX10s tomorrow while I'm at work and get back to you.

Hey mate, apparently I'm not allowed to send PMs yet. If you want to send me your details/info/pics of your ZX10 that'd be great.
How about a CBR600 04? $6k

Yep, definitely interested in that!
Can you send me some info please? Kms, extras, where is it, etc?
Found your post GSW. Can you tell me more about that crack please? Who/how was it fixed?

The crack is not all the way through and has just has some super glue put along the crack to stop it getting worse. Its been like it for 4 years. You can buy aftermarket ones colour coded to match for about $300
