Thinking about going to broadband. iHug have a good deal going at the moment, and I think it might finally be time to sign up. I'm just wondering if 4GB per month is going to be enough.
I'm hoping to download Superbike races using it- firstly, are they available for free download?, secondly how big will the file be for a full SBK race? I will also be creating/ maintaining a web site using it. So will it be enough?
Cheers

re: website uploading
Make sure you've got a good speed going upstream too, NZ has these horrible asyncronous connections which mean uploading takes forever even with fast download speeds.

An hour long movie is generally 6-700mb in divx/xvid format (most common format)
Assuming your races are in that format, 4gb is only going to get you 5 or 6 hours of viewing a month, assuming you do NOTHING else online. After that your connection will be restricted to 64k (not much faster than dialup)
In short 4gb is farq all if you want to watch videos. Get the 256k plan, not the 256k lite, unless yer really short of $$.
Oh and for what its worth Ihug are an excellent ISP. I've never had any of the bandwidth problems alot of people have had with Orcon, Slingshot etc.
My mate has a slingshot DSL connection and he mayswell have dialup cos of the congestion.

Don't telecom do a 2mbs down 192K up plan that has 10 gig before it is capped?
That's what I'm on (at least that is what I'd better be on) although that is still slow and icky upload speed.

4gb goes very quickly if you are looking to download stuff. Get around 8-10gb.
