View Full Version : Procrastinating

I dont procrastinate, I just take my time and think about the task very carefully.

Behind the garage is a 50cm gap to the high concrete block wall. About 3 years ago I noticed a small tree 50cm high growing in that gap. My wife decided it had to come out. I thought long and hard about the best way to tackle the problem.

Today I dived in while the tree was looking the other way. Two minutes with the prunning saw and I dragged the 2m high privet tree out onto the lawn. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

The garden tap has needed locating since we moved into the place. Wouldn't take much, but I'll get around to it shortly. Plenty of other five minute jobs waiting to be done, but I'll probably do them when the time is right.

Any other 'Deep' thinkers out there?

Write it all up on a list, then all the little jobs turn into 'fuck yeh, I can do that', and the large ones are just 'fuck that' :pinch:

Awa###, ya light weight. That pesky privet is laughing at you. If it was 2m high then it has roots 2m out from it. Kill it. Agent orange, napalm, diesel & round up. Drill the stump or hack at it like a maniac, when shattered, you probably sooner than stump, drench it in toxic stuff.

Tell me more Akzle, I have a privet nursery & gorse & wild ginga & horrible vine stuff which is tougher than kevlar & bamboo & & & etc.,

But yeah, na, yeah. I move into action when I do it once & do it right. Or put another way, with considered intentions. Or just been to Bunnings.

So yeah, I learn from my mistakes. The best time to do "it" is when you want to do "it", not have to do "it".

Procrastination is our psyche's way of stopping us from fixing the same problem twice, or beer or laziness.

Kahili is wild ginga?
Pulse vine is anything that grows from the nodules above & below ground? Specially below ground with the shite we have.

It's time & energy. Get in, hack to the ground, clear it, burn it, spray it's off spring with poison.

The biggest procrastinator I have in the shed is my Mexican mattock, the root digger. I can look at it, think about it & not touch it at all, for months.

Dig a trench and fill it with concrete or old roofing iron, that shit will keep growing no matter how much spray you give it.

The only way to get rid of it completely is to dig it out, and keep digging it out. Sprays and stuff wont kill those bigger species of bamboo.:nono:

cut and stump swab, as said.
i think "vigilant" brand is picloram-amitrole, so will kill it. don't know if you need to be an approved handler for amitrole or not..

you can foliar spray to kill bamboo, and yeah, about 1m id say is max.

repeat doses. amitrole is systemic and will soak through and kill anything currently growing, and rhoizes with no leaves up etc, will grow...

but yes. diesel and a match works good too.

Maybe they should look at re branding it as a killer of bamboo then, rather than a controller of.:msn-wink:

That's usually the only time my bedroom gets cleaned, that or if I'm expecting/hoping for company.

If you dont want to use chemicals or dig it out, cut it as close to the ground as you can then put a thick layer of high nitrogen fertilizer over it then cover with plastic, the sun will do the rest. Best results are in summer.:sunny:

I'm sorry - but denial is just a river in Egypt ...

But seriously - that was not what I meant by the concept of denial - it was a reference to the human preference for refusing to accept some situation, some psychological part of their make up, not a simple denial of any statement as you assume.
