Hi guys!

Upgraded from my little 250 finally to a VTR 1000 and am wanting to shed the Gortex gear and get some leathers! problem being I see plenty online but really want to try some one first! anyone know any stores in Christchurch that have a good selection or am I really just best to take all my measurements and order online?

Cheers!

Avon City suzuki had a lot of gear last time I was there. Good stuff too: alpinestars etc. Also some decent special prices.

International name brand leathers certainly look nicest. If I had the money, I would love some dianese or alpinestars gear. However, NZ gear bought online is much better value for money. You can get a complete leather 2piece from 1tonne for what, $600, whereas you could spend much more than that on just a brand name jacket.

Depending on your budget I would strongly suggest considering 1Tonne or Qmoto, which are the two best known local brands, which have been crash tested by many a member on this site and come out OK. There are other, even cheaper brands, but I know less about those and so wouldn't feel comfortable recommending them.

That said, if you have the money to spend.... dianese gear looks sexy as fuck.

To continue improving the local brands do need (local) customer support though.

Hmm, a blonde twenty something chick with a slim waist and large bosoms?

Both very valid points.

I do feel that the largest distinguishing feature between the most expensive name brand items, and gear from suppliers such as 1tonne or qmoto, is the amount of money which has gone into the design/style process and presumably testing rider opinion on a range of different styles, and then producing the style which is most popular.

I think they are both excellent quality, but if money were no object I think I would buy the more expensive stuff.
