Hi Guys,

Looking at a Axo talon Leather suit on special at Torpedo 7 (http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/shop/moto/road-leather-suits) wanting to know if anyone has tried or had any experience with this suit or brand in general, I have not heard of them much!

I was leaning towards a 2pc rather than a 1pc as I will be doing riding around the South Island and only a few track days, I really just want the extra safety over textile gear now that I am on a 1000cc bike. any feedback is appreciated. :)

Haven't tried them but they are a well known product & that is a sharp price. Either way 1 piece are a pain on the road. 2 piece zip together or you will regret it.

Can you clarify the downsides of a 1pc on the road? just a comfort factor?

Toilet stops & ease of fitting other layers + when you get to a cafe you can take your jacket off.

1 piece are so much easier for racing though. But 2 sets are best in that case, one for road, one for race

Did not realise T7 had full suits. Might grab one as the price is pretty bloody good! Hardly ever take a piss when out riding so I think I should be ok with a 1PC

I just got a 2 piece and I don't think it is all that much easier anyway. I've pretty much had to do the kiddie wees thing a couple of times already.

I'd rather be taking my pants off than the jacket, but people tend to get upset about that unless you're close enough to water to call them togs (apparently Kaikoura BP is NOT close enough, whingers ), so you're screwed in a 1 or 2 piece really =P

I bought a one piece Axo for racing. No complaints so far. Have a two piece as well (not Axo).
Pain in the arse unzipping and zipping the two piece up when you want to take it off.
Up to you though.
Seen more than a few at the track, so cant be all bad.
Cant vouch for how they stand up in a spill, (hope I never have to).
I would say they would offer more protection than textile.

That's piss poor for you mate! ;)

The other day, I decided to offer a few 'suggestions' to a sometimes vocal employee regarding their road riding gear. One of them was that they had everything for the road apart from pants. I thought the very least they should have riding jeans. The other was no one in NZ know what their gear is like. Axo has a decent rep overseas (I think it's the street department of Fox) but here there's nothing. I said they needed to lend kit to their staff and get some reviews and feedback happening.

2 days later they offered pants. Since it was my idea for the feedback thing, I'm still waiting for a 'lend' of a suit. LOL. Obviously they've been wanting to offer a more complete range of road gear for a while but have been just testing the waters. Interesting that they've had a suit for a while but no pants.

They've got some decent looking kit now.

Are you saying you work at T7 or Northern Accessories, the AXO importer??

Na not me. I know someone that works for the company that likes voicing their opinion every so often.

You would think they would offer pants to someone that actually rides

I forgot sale ended today. Will have to wait until next week.

Looks like I need to suggest a sample to another vocal employee. Wonder how long till they catch on

Hey, I ride. I've ridden my bike twice in 2 weeks. Sonic II is a bit exhausted now from all the excitement so has requested leave.

Like they say, the squeaky wheel gets the oil ;) Besides, it will be best for them if more than one person reviews the same product for comparison purposes. Logical really.

Mine finally arrived.

Managed to squeeze into it but it is a size to small (maybe even two sizes?). No way I could fit a back protector and/or chest protector in there.

I am terrible when it comes to sizing so this doesn't surprise me.

I used this chart http://cdn.axo.com/media/33001.pdf

Ordered a size 42 (52 on that chart). Based on my measurements it should have been slightly too small around the thighs and too big in the chest. It was too small around the thighs but about right in the chest.

Hopefully the 44 (54) will be right.

One day I will learn how to get measurements right and actually buy something the right size first time

Quality of the suit does seem good though

It looks like that chart I linked is the same as the one on the T7 site. I forgot to scroll down to see the chart and clicked 'sizing chart' which shows nothing which is why I used the other one.

I just had a look at the T7 site and showed the wife your post, She said "Eh? What have they done??" and she will have a look and try to make it easier to read tomorrow. Also, if you notice anything that doesn't make sense in the Moto side of T7 flick me a PM and I will pass it to my Wife to sort (She's just taken over the web content for Moto).

Ah see, I don't live with my sister and all that she ever says about me is "he's an asshole". She's got nothing else to bitch about me. :)
