on the north shore - high dense cloud, but not really mush chance of heavy rain. May be a few drizzles, but doubtful. The sun has broke thru, and this will blow over given a few hours, so it should be a good day for the ride.. see ya soon :)

Thanks PF for organising the ride! Here are a few more pics taken at Kaukapakapa and Puhoi. Including the cafe racer line-up for Yokai!

(PS: SpankMe - if you were wondering where we got to on the ride back I was day-dreaming and missed the Silverdale turn-off, so just continued on down SH1 back to Auckland. Oops!)

Awsome ride.
Good for my first proper KB ride instead of just seeing a group fly past me in the opposite direction.
Got to know a few poeple, but still hard to match names to bike to profiles.
Thanks to all the help point out the way to go : :Punk:

was an awesome day out. We'll have to train you people on the 250's up, i got lonely out in front by myself after the gixxer thou crew left me for dead. Spose i should slow down a bit but i was really loving it today and felt quite at home despite my rather shifty rear end.

Good to catch up with you crazy lot again, hope to see you lot out on another big ride in a few weeks.

That's one, two, three KB rides I've attended, and one, two, three trips home in a truck.

Is anyone else spotting a patterm?

Thanks to everyone who stopped and helped. I dunno what went bang. I'll go and have a look when I feel brave eough to cope with the disappointment.

That was a lovely little meander through the northwest, I so enjoy a little waft on a Sunday.
A hint of fried Michelin on the breeze mingling with the scent of hi octane. Marvelling at a Gixxer thou going past on one wheel. Ducking behind the screen as we pepper each other with stones.
I do seem to lose all my races on the straights though.
I really must do one of the fast rides.
A great day thoroughly enjoyed, well done PF.

Hahahahah seeing you tucked behind the fairing going hard and i look down to see i'm only doing like 70 and passing you was funny.

I had fun. Sorry i piked on the up north ride but ominous weather and a hangover didn't help. Had fun on the way back though with some others. Was kinda laxed out near the end which was pretty cool. Good ride Good company and great to meet some new faces. See you on the next one.

I assume that you could be talking about me...

Yes folks I had a "Bin" today...

Nope not the bike but me...

Farkin McDonalds had wet floors and had the signs miles away from where it was wet and I didnt know that they had washed them. My back was turned when they did it so had no idea what was about to happen.

I stood up and down and I went with a thud..
With one word coming out of my mouth very loud was "FUCK"

I jarred my back really badly and it hurt for a long time afterwards...
Wasn't pleasant riding with the back like that...

Probably be sore tomorrow thou.

Otherwise a great day....

I played tail end charlie from Kaukopakopa to wellsford for our newbie...

Went to the Puhoi pub and then afterwards went to PF's...

Well done PF...... no real "bins" to speak of.

52 bikes meet at Wellsford....

That was a great ride. Do you concur, yes doctor I concur. Thanks for whoever organised it. It was good the weather held off. This was my first ride with KB. I touched 240 a couple of times following a gixxer thou :chase: and this was a slow/medium ride. Cant wait for a fast one.

AYE??? When was that? Loved the little drag series at the lights in to albany!!! Did you see how much attention 5 bikes lined up at the lights gets!

To be honest (without getting an ego) i did ok today considering the shit i had on my back :violin: when you add my fat ass, and the fact that im a tad oversized for the lil old zxr it does make me looks like a half decent rider :devil2:

I might have to take that 600 of yours out for a short spin at some stage, if i dont get my own one first :motu:

lol, there was quite a mix in there today, the really fast KB guys (that i know of) werent there.

Only difference between the higher pace of today and a 'fast' ride is that they dont deviate their speed much into corners, its pretty much like Isle of Man TT racing, just without the pit stops and closed roads!
(you wont see me there for a while yet)

I reckon once i sort out the Biscuit i call a rear tyre with some decent rubber i stand a chance of keeping up, i was only 5 seconds off the blistering pace of your blue beast around Puke, and that was with a top speed of 150kph..

Fantastic day aside from some cheeky Fella on a Kwaka shooting past me on the left as i was moving across to the left... :nono:

To all, i was the fellah on the Mad Max Replica (minus the chick wearing feck all holding a cross bow) Gixxer two fiddy, all noise, no go.

Bring on the next cruise.

there were HEAPS of bikes! To be honest i'd say get out and join us. There were two virago 250's out today, one rider likes to give hers a bit of a hard time, the other just nanas along at her own pace :ride:

You will learn a lot faster riding with a group, and if you stick with people that have the similar/the same bike as you, you will very quickly learn that you can go quicker and still be fine - and feel comfortable doing it too.

Might see you out next time!

LOL, yeh man. Might be a new bike you need, not new rubber! I did lap you, but that will be more because i had more power than you.

I suggest getting out and doing the Ride Right Ride Safe course, it'll make you a quicker, safer and more confident rider (sounds like a sales pitch!), either way it helped me loads and i will be returning to do it again in a month or two.

There was a real newbie out there today.... and I was her tail end charlie..
you should have come and rode along with her... and that would have helped you get over your nerves... The more you ride... the better it will be for you to help you get over those nerves.

How would you like to just go out for a ride with me...
Just you and me.... to see how you do...
We could just do my favourite loop... it isnt that long but a really nice ride.
I am available to go out on a ride most days.

Bloody good day considering I nearly rolled over and went back to bed. Good to see the weather was better South of the hill.
Great meeting Korumba on the ZZR. Good to have another KBer up here.
Finally meet the infamous John. You ride a lot better that you post:devil2: No getting too excite about my pic, aye. Specially when you are looking at it on your laptop in bed (very dodgey that:wait: ).
Glad Curious managed to find us @ Maungatapere. Left there 9:45 and arrive @ Wellsford 11am.
Had to laugh @ the 1000 boys from AK who were trying to workout how we got there before them:motu: They though that they were Nana riders until they worked out that we had come from Whangarei not Westgate:sherlock:

Hope JSG and Chickenfunkstar found their way back OK after coming up with the WhangaRain KB'ers.

Didn't get really wet until Korumba and I headed back up Otiaka Valley Rd and out to Ruatangata (good GC practice that was:whistle: ). John and Ant had wisely headed back to Whangarei at that time.

All in all a good day, thanks Placid:Punk:

Was good seeing a few 250's, not as many as the fishshop run that BJ organised last time but still not a bad turnout.
Good to meet placid/sam finally, smorgen cibby chick and a couple of other fullas I can't remember right now.

Had a great deal of fun thrashing it round with the 600/1k's at the end :devil2: jeez you guys don't hold your corner speed that well though eh (big over compensating 'suv' bikes/engines)  (j/k)

SP: "yeah I was just were rolling it off top gear"
while I chop and change to wring the snot outta the bike :motu:

Nice uhh... 'paintjob' mr g-dog... Go 'team milf' (can I be the test/reserve rider :D ?) p.s I need to buy those kras tubes off ya, one of mine has started cracking :/

Suppose I'll see you guys next at puke track day then eh?

No worries mate. That's all part of the group ride ethic I suppose. Dunno how the hell Gareth_D and I got to be Tail End Charlies, but I consider it to be our civic service for the week :ride:

BTW, fess up who had the idea to take the wrong turn to Riverhead township instead of Old North (how many did we lose at the first tunrnoff?)

Yeah I don't know why but you guys were going in faster ('Gooody we are going fast now') and then lulling around mid corner and accelling out - once or twice I had to pretty much stand the bike up so I didn't rear end some of you (that was the sudden speed difference). I'm guessing its just different engine sized sports bikes that handle differently and negotiate corners differently???

Update re my fall at Wellsford McDonald's 11/9/05.

I have rung and laid a official complaint at Head Office at McDonald's.
They are going to contact me back either this arvo or tomorrow morning. They were not impressed with the Manager on duty with his dealings with me and with him not getting me to fill in a "accident report" of what happened for OSH or even checking that I was ok after my fall. Or moving the signs to a better place on the wet surface so that it didnt happen again.

They are not impressed with what he said to me either.
"Oh yeah, sorry" and "Where did it happen?" and again "Oh yeah sorry"

I am a bit sore still but will recover...
I was uncomfortable riding back to Auckland after having twisted my back in such a way when I landed. I could knew something wasn't right in my back.
I was trying to stretch a bit when riding back to take the pain away.

yah man where were you? how could anything else be more important than a ride with KB? lol

I'm thinking of organising another ride in about 2 or 3 weeks time, mainly focusing on 150's and 250's. The bigger bikes just blitz us when we ride with them.

R6_kid

I was gonna do a ride on coromandel in two weeks. Its a long day but is awesome fun, had the 250's showing the big bikes how to do it on the way up and around, but on the way back it opens out a bit and they get ahead by a fair while.

Doesnt need to be split up by bike capacity. When i tried doing that the first it was supposed to be 250's only, ended up with around 20 bikes, and only 5 were 250 or less.

Maybe if you ride on the straight roads :ride:...

Its no fun riding with all newbies (as in small capacities) because the mental case riders like to try keep up with the bigger bikes, and I... I mean THEY love to try give the big bikes a shakeup - CC's are for the straights.

Anywho thanks again good ride Korumba make sure you turn up with a new rear tire next time :hitcher:..

Memememememe yadda yadda yadda.

We don't blitz you that much.

It's not so much an issue of being blitzed but rather, being on a smaller bike, wanting to push oneself too hard to try to keep up or summat...

Not a bad thing all the time... I dunno... but I pictured group rides as just that... "Group" rides... not a bunch of riders starting at the same point and going as fast as possible to the destination, leaving behind all the slower, less confident bikers...
